On this day in 1992, the freedom fighters Harun Nasir al-Din, Imad Aqel and Jamil al-Natsheh set out to carry out a historic operation. Their car stopped 200 meters from the IOF camp near the Ibrahimi Mosque. Jamil remained in the car, while Harun and Imad got out to carry out the operation, armed with two Kalashnikovs and two pistols. When they arrived to the designated firing point, they opened fire at the two zionist guardsmen. The operation resulted in the killing of an IOF soldier, and the injury of another who became paralyzed. The soldiers from the watchtowers started firing in every direction without knowing the source of the fire, and the freedom fighters withdrew from the camp without harm.
This operation marked the first time in the First intifada that an IOF camp was attacked, notable because the enemy did not think that the resistance could attack its camps.
