This man is Arafat Abu Ras, an employee of the PA's Ministry of Development. Yesterday, with the victory of the Islamic Bloc (Hamas) at Birzeit University, he made a celebratory video joking about the win, stating, "Oh what a nightmare! Just don't arrest us [for celebrating]" in reference to the PA's continued repression of pro-resistance students and activists.

Today, the PA Intelligence Service summoned him, the PA's Preventive Security Service sent him a summons, and the Ministry imposed penalties on him and a warning threatening his job.

Such is the reality of repression for any principled Palestinian who rightfully supports resistance, even in a joking manner.

May 15th is not only a day to confront the ongoing #Nakba75, but it is and has always been a day of resistance, a day of Palestinian struggle. On this day, we declare full support for resistance, for return and liberation. This is what Nakba Day has always meant.

Cultivating spaces of joy and celebration is central to creating an atmosphere of resistance. This Saturday in Brussels, our comrades are hosting the first Palestinian Resistance Festival in Bethlehem Square. The event is an anti-colonial and anti-racist festival focused on celebrating our brave resistance.
