Palestinians across #Nablus have gathered in Deir Sharaf, west of the city, to break the dirt barriers that form part of the siege on the area.

One subscriber reached out to an RNN contributor via Twitter asking us to elaborate on this inter-settler violence in the Nablus area. Analysis below:

This inter-settler violence is due to IOF soldiers trying to temporarily contain settler violence. Palestine is currently much like a powder keg, and any violence could explode the entire West Bank. It’s not that the IOF has any interest in keeping Palestinians safe long-term, but that its aggression is calculated to maximize Palestinian death and minimize backlash.

Where the IOF is methodical in its suffocation and murder of Palestinians, the settlers are rash and short-sighted. They don’t understand why the IOF wants them to stay put, they only see these soldiers as “sellouts”. Even some soldiers cannot bear this contradiction and so attack other soldiers. While both settler and soldier are genocidal, their methods in genocide are colliding.
