Urgent statement and appeal issued by the family of the prisoner Walid Daqqah and the international campaign to release him:
Following new medical examinations during the past two days, the prisoner Walid Daqqah underwent surgery in the lungs and according to available information part of his right lung was removed. He is currently in the intensive care room at “Barzilai” Hospital in Asqalan.
This came after the serious deterioration that he suffered from on March 20 2023 as a result of the policy of medical negligence in order to deliberately kill him in the occupation prisons. He was diagnosed with myelofibrosis (a rare cancer of the bone marrow) on December 18 2022, which developed from leukemia that was diagnosed in 2015. Walid needs intensive health care for the lungs, kidneys and blood.
He also needs a very sensitive bone marrow transplant operation (noting that more than one donor is available) which requires a therapeutic environment that is not available, least of all due to the conditions of captivity, and the strict guarding practiced by the prison administration.
Firstly: we demand from the official Palestinian and Arab political level and local, regional, and international human rights organizations to work for the immediate release of the prisoner Walid Daqqah for him to receive treatment without restriction in a hospital where the necessary conditions are met for the success of the medical operations he needs and in the presence of his family.
Secondly: we demand the urgent formation of a medical team from the family, prisoners' institutions, and human rights institutions to visit Walid, and break the medical blackout that is practiced on his condition.

For the 67th consecutive day, PIJ leader Sheikh Khader Adnan continues his hunger strike in protest of his administrative detention by the occupation without charge or trial, despite his deteriorating health condition.
The Addameer Prisoner Care and Human Rights Association reported that after visiting him at the Ramla prison clinic on Wednesday, he is experiencing frequent fainting spells, visual and hearing impairments, numbness, severe chest pressure, body spasms, vomiting stomach secretions, emaciation, and severe weakness.
During a press conference in Ramallah today, Adnan's wife said, "the occupation prevents us from visiting him. He has fainted more than once due to the deliberate negligence of the jailers." She said that her husband is in agony and is on the verge of death on his 67th day of the open hunger strike. She added, "I will not forgive anyone if Khader died and whoever could have done something for his freedom did not do anything.”
Adnan's family demanded his transfer to a civilian hospital, holding the occupation prisons authority responsible for his life.
President of the Prisoners' Club, Qaddoura Fares, stated that the occupation is attempting to mislead the international community by asserting that Sheikh Adnan was arrested based on an indictment.
