Mother of the martyr Jaafar Mona, Tahani Masoud Mona, kidnapped by the occupation
In the early morning of Tuesday, September 10, Israeli occupation forces stormed and ransacked dozens of homes in Hebron, Bethlehem, Jenin, Nablus, and Ramallah. Among the Palestinians abducted from Nablus is Tahani Masoud Mona, the mother of the martyr Jaafar Sa’ad Mona. Since then, her detention has been extended multiple times. Soldiers took the measurements of her house and of another one in the city, in preparation for their demolition.
Jaafar Sa’ad Mona, from Nablus, was martyred at age 30 on August 18, after he carried out a resistance operation in Tel Aviv.
Since the British colonial mandate over Palestine, occupation authorities have used home demolition as a tool to target the families of Palestinian martyrs and prisoners.
Occupation forces frequently arrest and imprison the family members of Palestinian martyrs, as well as the family members of “wanted” Palestinians in both a form of collective punishment and an attempt to hold them hostage in order to force Palestinians to turn themselves in. This comes in addition to the policy of holding hostage the bodies of the martyrs in order to deny families a funeral. In the attack on Jaafar Mona’s house, the banner honouring him was destroyed by the occupation soldiers as they abducted his mother.
