The first phase of the emergency vaccination campaign against polio in the southern governorates has concluded with the vaccination of around 560,000 of the targeted children (from one day old to 10 years old).

The vaccination rate reached about 87% of the targeted children, while the target rate was around 90%.

The first phase of the vaccination campaign consisted of three rounds over 12 days, covering the governorates of Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, Rafah, Gaza, and the North.

Minister of Health, Dr. Majed Abu Ramadan: "We salute and thank all the teams from the Ministry of Health, UNRWA, the World Health Organization, and UNICEF, who continued working throughout the campaign to vaccinate our children against polio despite the critical conditions resulting from the continuous aggression of the occupation."

"Our people in the southern governorates have demonstrated to the whole world their great care and awareness of the importance of vaccination. They faced the toughest conditions in traveling to bring the children of our people to the vaccination centers, reaffirming the Palestinian people's belief in life and their commitment to their health and the health of our nation’s children."
