The occupation reduces the humanitarian zone and increases the number of displaced persons in Deir Al-Balah to nearly one million.
Following the latest decision by the zionist occupation to evacuate several neighborhoods in Deir Al-Balah city and its request to evacuate some areas in the central and southern parts of the Strip, this decision has resulted in numerous humanitarian crises, the most important of which are:
1- The reduction of the humanitarian zone in the south from 30 km to 20 km, leading to extreme overcrowding and frightening congestion of residents in a narrow strip amidst intense heat, resulting in diseases and epidemics due to the overcrowding.
2- The number of displaced persons in Deir Al-Balah has risen to unprecedented levels, reaching nearly one million, distributed across nearly 200 shelters. This has made Deir Al-Balah the region with the highest number of displaced persons in history compared to its size.
3- There are no places left for the displaced to seek refuge due to the limited space designated by the occupation as a humanitarian zone, forcing them to wander aimlessly in the streets and roads.
4- We are unable to provide the necessary services to the residents because several water wells and tanks have gone out of service due to their location in the area the occupation demanded to be evacuated. These facilities supplied 60% of the water to the residents, which will lead to extreme difficulty in accessing water, especially in this intense heat.
5- Garbage is piling up in the streets, roads, and shelters because the municipality's vehicles cannot reach the waste disposal site designated during the war, as it is located in the area the occupation demanded to be evacuated. This will lead to the spread of epidemics and diseases, especially after the discovery of the first case of polio.
Finally:
We demand that the occupation, international institutions, and civil organizations allow municipal teams free access to their facilities so they can provide the necessary services to the residents.
