🚨 42-year-old prisoner Islam Al-Sarsawi from Al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood in Gaza City, northern #Gaza, has ascended to martyrdom inside the occupation prisons, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Club and the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Commission.
The Commission and the Club stated that Islam was an officer in the police who has been detained, along with dozens, during the most recent IOF raid on Al-Shifa Hospital, and was subjected to torture inside the "Sde Teman" camp.
He was martyred four months ago, and the Commission and the Club obtained confirmed information about his fate yesterday.
The Commission and the Club stated that with the martyrdom of prisoner Al-Sarsawi, the number of martyrs of the prisoners' movement since 1967 has risen to 257, including 20 prisoners who have martyred since the start of the genocidal war and whose identities have been announced.
This comes in addition to dozens of detainees from #Gaza who have been martyred in the occupation's prisons and concentration camps, with the occupation continuing to conceal their identities under the crime of enforced disappearance.
The Commission and the Club called on international community institutions to take immediate action to stop the crime of enforced disappearance and the escalating crimes of torture, which are unprecedented in their intensity. They urge not to leave the prisoners prey to the occupation's prison administration and its systematic policies, which today have more support than ever with a political decision from the settlers’ government, to kill them.
The Commission and the Club called for the swift formation of an international investigation committee with comprehensive authority to investigate all the crimes committed by the occupation against the prisoners, and for the human rights system to emerge from its state of helplessness in stopping the genocidal war and the aggression against the prisoners, which forms another aspect of it.
The number of prisoners in the occupation’s prisons has reached more than 9,900, and this does not include all detainees from #Gaza.
