In memory of Ismail Haniyeh

Like all resistance leaders before him, Ismail Haniyeh will be remembered as a figure who made great sacrifices and contributions to the Palestinian cause and struggle for liberation throughout the course of his political career.

🚨 BREAKING: Renowned Al-Jazeera correspondent Ismail Al-Ghoul (Media 1) and photographer Ramy Al-Reef (Media 2) ascended to martyrdom in a cowardly airstrike by US-funded IOF warplanes bombing a group of journalists leaving the rubble of martyr Ismail Haniyeh's home in Shati' camp, northern #Gaza Strip, where the people of the camp mourned the martyred leader.

Ismail and Rami were targeted despite clearly-marked press vests. They are the 164th and 165th journalists martyred in the Gaza Strip since October 7th.

Ismail has steadfastly covered developments on the ground since the beginning of the war despite several of his family members ascending to martyrdom. In March, he was abducted by the IOF from Al-Shifa Hospital, where he was brutally beaten and tortured. Yet, Ismail returned to the field and coverage within hours, refusing but to shed light on the crimes of the occupation, even if it meant his life was in danger.

In his last post, journalist and martyr Ismail Al-Ghoul wrote:

“In a sorrowful atmosphere, the camp bids farewell to the great national figure from the ruins of the home of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Al-Shati Camp, west of Gaza City.”

Ismail, who lost several members of his immediate family throughout the war, continued to share the truth of the painful genocide in #Gaza.

Ismail, the son of Gaza, rises as a martyr today, in the Gaza that he loved, on the steadfast land of Palestine.
