The Prisoners’ Commission and the Prisoners’ Club confirm the news of the martyrdom of administrative detainee Sheikh Mustafa Abu Ora in the occupation prisons.
The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club confirmed the news of the martyrdom of administrative detainee Sheikh Mustafa Muhammad Abu Ora (63 years old) from Aqaba/Tubas, after he was transferred from “Ramon” Prison to “Soroka” Hospital, as a result of a serious deterioration in his health condition.
The Commission and the Club clarified that Abu Ora, a leader and former prisoner, has been arrested many times since 1990. He is married and has seven children, with a total of 12 years in detention. He is also one of the exilees of Marj al-Zuhur. The occupation re-arrested him on October 30, 2023. Before his arrest, he was suffering from difficult health problems, and needed strict medical follow-up. However, since his arrest, Sheikh Abu Ora, like all prisoners, faced crimes and measures unprecedented in scale since the beginning of the genocide war, most notably the torture, starvation, and medical crimes, which have been central causes for the martyrdom of prisoners and detainees in the occupation prisons and camps.
The Commission and the Club considered that Sheikh Abu Ora was subjected to a slow execution since his arrest, and deprivation of treatment, which falls within the framework of the ongoing genocide war and the systematic killings carried out by the occupation by a political decision, and at the public incitement of its fascist extremist minister Ben-Gvir, who called for the killing of prisoners by shooting them in the head to solve the problem of overcrowding in prisons.
The Commission and the Club held the occupation prison administration fully responsible for the martyrdom of the detainee Sheikh Abu Ora, as well as for the fate of all prisoners and detainees, whose number today is more than 9,700, knowing that this figure does not include all detainees from Gaza.
The Commission and the Club continued that the continuation of the occupation’s crimes against prisoners at their current unprecedented level will lead to the martyrdom of more detainees, especially as the number of sick and wounded has doubled as a result of crimes of torture, starvation, and medical crimes. The prison administration deliberately causes the prisoners to become infected with diseases and exacerbate the suffering of the sick, aimed to kill them. Note that the majority of those released suffer from diseases, health and psychological problems.
With the martyrdom of the detainee Sheikh Abu Ora, the number of martyred prisoners and detainees rises to 19; these are martyrs whose identities have been announced, while the occupation continues to hide the identities of dozens of Gaza detainees who ascended in its prisons and camps. The number of martyrs of the prisoners movement whose identities have been known since 1967 is 256, in addition to dozens of martyrs from Gaza detainees, and those who were field-executed during the genocide war. Notably, the highest number of martyrs among the ranks of prisoners has been recorded in the history of the prisoner movement since the genocide war.
The Commission and Club renew their calls and demands to the United Nations to open an impartial international investigation into the ongoing crimes against detainees and prisoners, including field executions. The leader Sheikh Abu Ora, who carries a rich national advocacy and social record throughout the years of his life in which he spent effort, struggle, sacrifice and giving, and during which he was subjected to persecution, exile to Marj al-Zuhur, and arrest by the occupation many times, amounting to more than 12 years, ascends here today after a slow killing operation was carried out against him from the moment of his arrest and deprivation of treatment.
This heinous crime falls within the framework of the ongoing genocide war, and within the framework of the systematic killing operations carried out by the occupation by political decision, and at the public instigation of the ministers of the Nazi government, which calls for the killing and disposal of prisoners.
We call on all the fighters, who were raised by the martyr Sheikh, to aim bullets and explosive devices at the occupation soldiers and settlers in revenge for the blood of the martyr and the martyrs of our righteous people.
