Yasser Al-Namrouti: The first commander-in-chief of Hamas' Martyr Izz El-Din Al-Qassam Brigades. He ascended on this day in 1992 in a fierce armed clash.
Over 300 bullets pierced the commander's body, a testament to the danger that he posed to the enemy that knew the Al-Qassam Brigades would become its worst nightmare.

A man of the people and in alignment with his prior advocacy work, he organized marches and revolutionary activity on enemy sites.
His adherence to religion carried through to this military leadership. Islam guided him, providing the path to train the ideal Muslim soldier. For Yasser, faith, weapon, and strength were the pillars of resistance.
He continued recruiting while pursuing collaborators and agents despite being heavily wanted. The zionist enemy never suspected him at first, but once they were on his tail, the chase never stopped. "I will not surrender myself to the occupiers, and I will die a thousand times before they get me," he declared.
From January until July, the chase did not stop. In January, too, Yasser became the first commander-in-chief of the Al-Qassam Brigades, directing operations in the depths of the usurping entity and working closely with current commander Mohammed Deif to set up Hamas' military wing. Yasser was undeterred by the pursuit. Operation after operation came, and many zionist soldiers were killed at his command.
