"The Flower of the Good Earth" was born in 1958 in Battir, Bethlehem, Taghreed soon joined the ranks of the PFLP as part of the liberation struggle in order to expel the colonial settlers from her homeland. She is honored by Naji Al-Ali in the above drawing, with the symbolic hoopoe bird singing a tearful song for the heroic martyr.
In response to her martyrdom, PFLP commandos assassinated IOF officer Moshe Golan in the Taghreed Batmeh Operation as a response "to the fascist terrorism carried out by the zionist entity against our masses in the homeland." They stated that it was revenge for "comrade and fighter Taghreed's assassination after failed attempts to assassinate the fighters Al-Shak'a, Khalaf, and Al-Taweel."
