This is what writer Musa Al-Sada wrote on this day one year ago, reflecting on Khaled and Mohannad.
Sons of the same village, Khaled Sabah and Mohannad Shehadah are both freed prisoners, held in the same cell of "Megiddo" prison until 2020. Both, too, were kidnapped by the Palestinian Authority without charge for weeks. And both were student activists with the Islamic Bloc. They were each other's friends and companions.
One year ago today, they ascended to martyrdom together, sealing their friendship, after carrying out their heroic operation with rifles that zionist sources claimed were stolen from an IOF base months prior. The martyrs were Al-Qassam Brigades cadre in the West Bank, according to Hamas leadership.
This operation killed four and wounded others, as a direct response to the IOF's aggression on Jenin at the time. Muhannad was martyred at the site of the operation, whereas Khaled was martyred in Tubas after an hours-long chase by the IOF.
Remarkably, PA officer Mohammed Manasra carried out an operation at the same location and manner on the day of his martyrdom in February 2024.
Khaled and Mohannad's homes in Urif were demolished by the IOF last October and November. Khaled's patient father stated at the time: "Demolishing the house is not worth a drop of Khaled's blood." Prisoner Basil Shehadah, accused of assisting in the operation, had his family home demolished this January.
