After 20 years spent in occupation prisons, Mahmoud Shafiq Al-Khafsh from Marada, northern #Salfit has finally been liberated.
Originally abducted back in 2004, Mahmoud spent two decades in Naqab Desert Prison where he endured cruel and barbaric torture at the hands of zionists. In an interview following his release (Media 5), he describes the policy of starvation implemented on the prisoners and how hunger is a sentence to a slow, painful death. Prisoners would share what little rations they received amongst each other just to survive.
Not only does he relay the physical assaults, as shown by the traces of beatings left on his arms, but the verbal abuse that those in occupation prisons are subjected to as well. “They curse our mothers, they curse our honor. They leave nothing left to curse.”
“Do not forget the prisoners.”
Mahmoud was embraced tearfully by his loved ones who surrounded him in a bittersweet, long awaited celebration of his liberation despite the IOF’s vandalization of his posters and the Palestinian flags which adorned the streets of Salfit.

🟢 Senior Hamas leader Osama Hamdan at Hamas’ press conference on Palestinian prisoners and detainees in occupation prisons titled "Your Freedom Is a Promise" today, June 4th, 2024 (1/4):
—
The cause of Palestinian prisoners in the prisons of the zionist occupation is one of the central national causes of our movement and our people in all arenas of the country and abroad. It is also a just humanitarian cause. We cannot accept their continued suffering and the occupation’s escalation of violations against them.
The continued suffering and escalation of the occupation’s horrific crimes and systematic violations against male and female prisoners in its prisons were and still are one of the explosive causes of all the uprisings and revolutions in the face of the zionist enemy. Support for our people and the defense of their rights, foremost among them our free prisoners and heroic female prisoners, is one of the titles of the heroic battle of Al-Aqsa Flood.
This criminal escalation comes against prisoners and detainees from the West Bank and occupied Al-Quds in occupation prisons, and hostages and kidnapped people from the Gaza Strip in detention centers and camps, under a zionist government that is the most Nazi and extremist, as the war criminal “Ben Gvir,” the minister of the so-called “Zionist National Security,” continues daily in his policy of revenge against our prisoners and kidnapped people.
The crime of forced disappearance is practiced by the zionist occupation, with the continued systematic blackout about the truth about the conditions of prisoners, detainees, kidnapped and abductees from the Gaza Strip, in its prisons, detention centers and camps, since October 7, 2023 AD, and the beginning of the zionist aggression and genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
The occupation prevented the relevant human rights and humanitarian institutions, led by the Red Cross, from reaching the prisoners and assessing their conditions, especially the prisoners who were kidnapped from the Gaza Strip, who are completely absent from any communication, and whose fate is not known, except through leaks that emerge from time to time from Prison hospitals and detention centers, which confirms their tragic reality and the heinous violations against them.
The suffering and tragedy of Palestinian prisoners and detainees, which has been going on for 76 years, and which has escalated and increased in intensity since October 7, 2023, is being ignored, in contrast with the great interest shown by the American administration and some Western countries in the prisoners of the occupation held by the resistance, in a scandalous behavior that confirms blind American bias to the terrorist occupation, and turning a blind eye to the ongoing suffering and tragedy of our people.
The occupation continues its violations and crimes against prisoners and the escalation of all forms of revenge, psychological and physical torture, slow killing, deprivation of treatment, food and medicine, and the most basic human rights, and field executions of abductees from the Gaza Strip in detention and arrest camps.
The testimonies of those released in the Gaza Strip are horrific and heartbreaking, which narrate the horror of the violations and the heinous crimes committed against them during the period of arrest and detention.
Reports from UNRWA officials confirmed that “the zionist occupation sent 225 bodies of our people’s martyrs to the Gaza Strip in 3 containers since December,” and that “the agency transferred them to the local health authorities for burial,” and that the occupation army was “disposing of the released detainees or throwing away the bodies which are transferred to the entity and returned to the Gaza Strip,” in a fascist Nazi policy that reveals the truth about this army, devoid of conscience and humanity, and unbridled of all values, customs, international laws, and divine laws.

On April 4, 2024 AD, a zionist doctor working in a field hospital held in the “Sde Teman” detention camp in the Naqab desert revealed legal violations committed against Gaza Strip detainees in the camps, where he said that in just one week, the legs of two prisoners were amputated due to complications resulting from being cuffed in shackles, he confirmed that the matter had become normal. He also described the conditions of the Gazan prisoners as “miserable,” and that unreasonable violations were being committed against them, which exposed them to the real risk of death.
The number of martyrs inside prisons has risen unprecedentedly. Since October 7, it has been announced that 18 prisoners have ascended [to martyrdom] inside the occupation prisons in the West Bank and occupied Al-Quds, and on 28/5/2024: the occupation army revealed the martyrdom of 37 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip zionist detention centers, since October 7, according to what was reported by the Associated Press.
Zionist violations escalated after October 7, 2023, in an unprecedented manner, bringing the number of prisoners and detainees since that date to approximately 9,500 Palestinian detainees, who are subjected to a hell of starvation, humiliation, abuse, and the breaking of their bones and limbs, leading to martyrdom of dozens of them as a result of torture in the camps, investigation basements, or as a result of intentional medical negligence or deprivation of food and medicine.
Monitoring and documentation studies indicate that the occupation authorities have arrested more than 16,000 Palestinian women since 1967. Among them were 4 female prisoners, each of whom gave birth inside the prison under harsh and difficult conditions.
Since October 7, the women and free women of the Gaza Strip have been subjected to the worst types of unprecedented physical attacks, deliberate insults, humiliation, and retaliatory practices, during operations of arrest, detention, investigation, or detention in inhumane conditions.
Palestinian and international human rights centers and Western media reports have documented horrific testimonies of female detainees from the Gaza Strip. They were arrested and detained by the zionist occupation army. They were subjected to sexual violence, torture and humiliation. Among these testimonies:
- Harsh investigation and threats by the occupation soldiers of rape if you do not obey their orders to record video clips attacking the Hamas movement, and the threat of not seeing your children if you do not respond to them.
- Handcuffing from behind, blindfolding, semi-naked searches, and being kept in front of the soldiers’ eyes for long hours, with mockery, humiliation, insults, and cursing.
- Upon arrest, all of the women’s possessions, including gold, money, and personal belongings, are confiscated, and they are forced to remove their clothes and subjected to severe interrogation sessions, which include harsh treatment, including beatings, torture, and verbal abuse.
The zionist occupation is still detaining more than 200 Palestinian children in its prisons, who are facing after the 7th of last October. They are subjected to harsh conditions and are subjected to all types of physical and psychological torture.

🟢 Senior Hamas leader Osama Hamdan at Hamas’ press conference on Palestinian prisoners and detainees in occupation prisons titled "Your Freedom Is a Promise" today, June 4th, 2024 (3/4):

The zionist occupation admitted the presence of 865 detainees in its camps and prisons, and called them “illegal combatants,” and they are the forcibly disappeared, while the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz revealed the arrest of more than 4,000 from the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, and a “permanent” arrest order was issued according to their description against 2,000 of them, and here we point out the occupation’s refusal to provide any information about the kidnapped prisoners to the relevant international bodies and organizations.
Human rights reports revealed that the occupation army reproduces the crimes of zionist gangs during the Nakba of displacement of Palestinians in 1948, in a retaliatory approach and policy that continues to persecute and brutalize them, reaching the point of converting them to practice animal behavior in their actions and lives, and forcing them to do so under beatings, torture, and exercising all forms of oppression against them, and from Among these crimes and violations:
- Systematic field executions of detainees, which is an ancient and deeply rooted zionist policy of this fascist entity against our Palestinian people and the peoples of our Arab nation, which will not forget the executions by the occupation army of Egyptian soldiers who were burned to death west of the occupied city of Al-Quds, 57 years ago.
- Handcuffing with plastic restraints while blindfolded.
- Intentionally humiliating the kidnapped when they were arrested and transferred to detention centers.
- Deprivation of sleep, food and water.
- Severe beatings with electrical wires and machine guns.
- Retaliatory torture and all kinds of abuse and humiliation.
- Psychological abuse through cursing and swearing.
- Disgraceful nudity and cruel beatings all over the body.
- Deprivation of necessary health care, especially for the sick and wounded.
- Forcing to defecate in diapers.
The occupation committed the most heinous types of crimes and violations against prisoners and detainees throughout the West Bank and occupied Al-Quds. The Nazi occupation also enacted laws that violate and contradict all international norms and laws, such as the law on executing prisoners. Among these violations and crimes that have been documented are:
- Field executions of detainees.
- A number of prisoners had their limbs amputated due to iron handcuffs.
- Psychological and physical torture, hitting, severe beatings, and tying hands behind the back with handcuffs for long days.
- Intentional medical negligence and denial of treatment and medicine.
- Solitary isolation policy.
- Carrying out torture in front of "israeli" civilians and allowing them to document it with new means of communication while they mock.
- The policy of starving prisoners and depriving them of their basic rights.
- Arbitrary administrative detention.
- Deprivation of family visits.
- Preventing lawyers and human rights institutions from visiting them and checking on their conditions.
- Demolishing the homes of prisoners’ families.
- Detaining the bodies of martyrs who are prisoners.
The continued silence of the international community and UN institutions in the face of these crimes and violations against Palestinian prisoners. It holds them all politically, morally and humanely responsible for its dangerous repercussions and consequences against our Palestinian people.

These violations and crimes committed by the occupation against Palestinian prisoners and detainees in its prisons, detention centers and Nazi concentration camps are a blatant violation of all international laws and norms, which requires urgent intervention from the international community to stop and end them immediately.
We call on the United Nations and all countries, governments, and human rights and humanitarian institutions in the world to put pressure on the occupation to allow families to visit the prisoners and the entry of human rights and humanitarian organizations to determine their humanitarian conditions in prisons, detention centers and camps.
We call for urgent and serious international action to expose the escalating and continuing crimes and violations of the zionist occupation against our male and female prisoners in the occupation prisons, and to work to criminalize and stop them, and to press for the release of all detainees and abductees since October 7, 2023 AD.
The disregard of many countries and institutions, especially the American administration and some Western countries that support the occupation, of the conditions and suffering of the prisoners and the violations committed against them by the occupation army represents a criminal policy that looks with one eye and applies double standards when it comes to the zionist occupation, which makes them involved in these criminal practices against our prisoners in Prisons, and our people who are being exterminated by the zionist entity and its fascist government.
It has become clear to the world to which category these Nazi criminal killers belong, who violate all human values and norms and international laws and conventions against Palestinian detainees and prisoners in their prisons and detention centers.
It has also become clear to the world - on the other hand - the extent of the humane treatment that enemy prisoners have received at the resistance since October 7 last year, according to the confessions and testimonies of the released enemy prisoners.
The "israeli" response to the proposal that we agreed to on May 6, speaks of opening the door to negotiations in everything, without end. This does not align with the position that President Joe Biden mentioned in his speech regarding a permanent ceasefire and comprehensive withdrawal, which we expressed positively.
What the American President said in the text: “The mediators guarantee that the negotiations will continue indefinitely until the two parties agree.” This confirms that the occupation only wants one stage... in which it takes the [zionist] captives... and then resumes its aggression and war against our people. The occupation does not want s ceasefire, and it does not want to reach results.
We have communicated our position to the mediators: unless there is a clear stance from the "israeli" occupation indicating readiness for a permanent ceasefire and a comprehensive withdrawal from the Gaza Strip – which is what could open the door widely for completing the agreement – we cannot agree to an agreement that does not secure, guarantee, and confirm a permanent ceasefire and a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, along with the achievement of a serious and genuine exchange deal.
Now, we are awaiting the clear "israeli" position on this issue on which there is international consensus, and we call on the mediators to obtain a clear position on the "israeli" occupation regarding its commitment to a permanent ceasefire and complete withdrawal.
This is the position we communicated to the mediators; it is the national stance representing and affirmed by the Palestinian factions, which has been conveyed to our negotiating team representing them.

The Kuwaiti Falcon Soaring Over Palestine.
"You will be proud of me. I will raise your heads and the heads of all Arabs." It was a promise and a farewell.
These words were said to his comrades by martyr Fawzi Abdulrasoul Al-Majadi, an Arab Kuwaiti resistance fighter who dedicated his life to the Palestinian cause in the midst of the first intifada. From Kuwait to Lebanon, Fawzi made his pilgrimage to join the revolution as part of the DFLP in support of the struggling Palestinian people and in holding true to his convictions as an Arab. He joined the revolution to "renew the unity of destiny to conquer the oppression of occupation on all struggling peoples."
Fawzi and his comrades set out to execute the Martyrs of Nablus Operation on the day he uttered these words, June 4th 1989. Their target was an IOF military site near "Meskav Am" in northern occupied Palestine. With two other Palestinian comrades, they killed an IOF soldier, captured two, and injured several others. The three heroes were martyred following bombardment by IOF helicopters after long clashes.
Their bodies were held in the cemetery of numbers for nearly 20 years. On July 16th 2008, a prisoner exchange led by Hezbollah saw the release of the bodies of 199 Arab resistance fighters, including Fawzi Al-Majadi. He was buried honorably in Kuwait following a warm welcome by supporting masses.
Today, the echoes of Fawzi's indomitable spirit resonate decades later, inspiring a new generation of Arab heroes. It was this same spirit, the immortal desire for justice and liberation, that guided another martyr on a journey of defiance and sacrifice: Egypt's Mohammed Salah. The Kuwaiti falcon and the Egyptian lion, both soaring high, their spirits united in the struggle for Palestine's liberation.
From the Ocean to the Gulf, Fawzi sacrificed for Palestine and its Arabism, so that it may be free from the River to the Sea. From the deserts of Kuwait, the falcon soared to Lebanon with his eyes set on Palestine, raising his weapon and wearing victory.

The cause of liberating our prisoners from the occupation prisons will always be present in any negotiations to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip. The zionist occupation will not see its prisoners held by the resistance except through a serious and genuine exchange deal that ensures our prisoners' freedom.

AJ+ Interview with the family of 1 and a half year old martyr Ahmed Al-Najjar:
—
Do you remember this event where a child’s head was missing from his body during the tent massacre? This is the same child before his martyrdom. His name is Ahmed Al-Najjar. He was only a year and a half old and was the youngest child, pampered by his parents.
[Abed] Allah blessed me with a child with black eyes. His eyes were black, black. Beautiful, so gorgeous, I mean he looked so beautiful. Praise be to the One who created him.
The child’s family was displaced from Khan Younis to Rafah and they settled in Tal Al-Sultan in the areas that were declared “safe zones” by the occupation.
On the afternoon of Sunday on May 26, 2024 Ahmed was playing as usual with his siblings when the call to prayer began (Maghrib) and they got up to pray. After this, “israel” bombed the refugee camp and 45 Palestinians ascended to martyrdom. From them were Ahmed, Huda, Arkan, and their mother Faten. Only his father and his two brothers, Mohammed and Yamen, survived.
The martyrdom of my son Ahmed alone was unbelievable and I could not even believe that his head was severed in the bombing. (1:18 - Abed Abed Al-Hafez , father of the child Ahmed) I did not believe it until I saw it with my own eyes at the Tal Al-Sultan clinic. His head was separated from his body. Words about this situation are very difficult. Here comes a small body without a head. This is difficult, very difficult. And this is also my son, it was horrific, very horrific. Even to bury him without a head was horrific.
(1:40 - Mohammed: 13 years old) We were playing soccer before Maghrib prayer. I came back a while later to the shelter and suddenly the doors of the shelter banged. I heard screams and then what did we see? I saw my brother Ahmed at the entrance of the shelter. His head was cut off and his left leg was cut off. He was wearing black pants and a shirt that was orange. I couldn’t handle it, to see my brother with his head cut off.
(2:05 - Yamen: 8 years old) His face was covered in blood and his head was cut off. I cried. I love them so much.
[Abed] They accuse us of decapitating heads. But who decapitates heads? They decapitated the head of a one-and-a-half-year-old child. Decapitated, decapitated. The martyrs were my wife, Huda, Arkan, and the little boy. He was placed in a bag with Huda. My wife was in a separate bag, and Arkan was in a separate bag as well.
What are the most prominent memories and things they remember about Ahmed?
[Abed] I used to tell him “Buba O Buba.” Or baby. He used to always tell me “Baba, Tata” [batata (potato) in Arabic]. Meaning give me french-fries.
[Mohammed] The things he used to love most were trampolines and the ball and cats. So when we used to play with the cats, we would take him. He used to go and play with us. We used to play everything.
What was the last moment that Ahmad and his father shared before his martyrdom?
[Abed] He asked me for a shekel, he told me “teytel” so I gave him a shekel and he came and hugged me. He told me, “Baba.” I said, “What?”
He replied “Baba” and I said “What?”
And he came over to me and hugged me. He went to buy something and came back with Arkan to the shelter. Him and Arkan then were gone.
[Mohammed] When I look at the toys and things he used to play with, at his belongings and the ball, I feel sadness. I miss all of them. I pray for them when I miss them. I pray Allah have mercy on them, forgive them, and grant them Paradise.
