🚨 The Palestinian Prisoner's Club reported today an unprecedented significant increase in the number of prisoners with contagious skin diseases, specifically scabies, in addition to other contagious skin diseases whose nature they have been unable to determine. The affected prisoners include children.
Dozens of cases have been recorded particularly the Naqab and "Megiddo" prisons, as well as in Ofer and Ramon prisons.
This situation is exacerbated by the lack of basic necessities, such as essential cleaning supplies, reduced water quantities, and limited opportunities for prisoners to bathe. The severe overcrowding in the sections due to increased daily arrest campaigns, poor ventilation, and isolation in cells devoid of sunlight have significantly contributed to the spread of diseases. In addition, prisoners rely on a single set of clothes since the beginning of the genocide war.
The occupation prison administration continues to escalate its systematic medical crimes by deliberately leaving prisoners untreated. The most egregious crime currently being committed against prisoners is the deliberate transfer of infected prisoners from one section to another, which has led to an increase in the number of infections. Among the infected are child prisoners, specifically in Megiddo prison.
In addition to all the measures of torture, abuse, deprivation, and starvation that have intensified recently, every aspect of the prisoners' lives has been turned into a tool to amplify methods of torture and abuse. This includes turning the need for treatment into a tool for torture by depriving prisoners of their right to medical care. While prisoners previously faced significant delays in receiving minimal treatment, they now face much more severe medical crimes compared to the period before the ongoing genocide war, according to the Club.
