The system has recently seen a resurgence in use, after being used for the first time as cover fire for resistance fighters invading the Gaza envelope last October.
Last week, it was used for the first time since December 2023 in a pre-emptive abortive attack by the resistance on the IOF, targeting the "Holit" settlement near Rafah, 2km from the Gaza Strip. Al-Qassam Brigades targeted enemy gatherings there on May 1st with Rajoom and its military media released a video of the operation.
The operation targeted IOF gatherings mobilizing to invade Rafah, sending a message that they would be committing a grave mistake if they tried.
Today, the Rajoom system was used again to target an IOF military base at "Kerem Shalom," killing and wounding at least 10 IOF soldiers.
The system is comprised of a launcher that fires 15 144mm rockets, each weighing 18kg with 3 kg warheads. While it has high destructive capacity, it is limited in range and accuracy, able to hit targets 8.5 to 22 km away.
