Students and community members chant while continuing to occupy space at the CUNY encampment in Harlem, New York, demanding an end to the genocide in Palestine.
Solidarity activists in Scotland have occupied the space in front of the Scottish Parliament for the last 4 days in an ongoing encampment, marking the third encampment that has broken out of the univeristy gates after Berlin and New Orleans.
The community members are demanding an arms embargo, public and academic divestment, recognition of the genocide the UK is complicit in, the right to protest, and protection of the right to boycott.
Dozens of them have undertaken an open-ended hunger strike, which began when the encampment was launched, inspired by the hunger strikes of Yale graduate students last week, the famines of Gaza, and the long tradition of hunger strikes as a weapon by the Palestinain resistance and prisoners.

🚨 Palestinian Prisoners Club:

The majority of the detainees recently released suffer from clear health issues that necessitated the immediate hospitalization of some.
Continuing escalation of medical crimes against prisoners in the occupation's prisons.
The Palestinian Prisoner Club reported that the majority of the detainees recently released from the "israeli" occupation prisons, as part of the limited releases of administrative detainees and prisoners who completed their sentences, suffer from significant health issues. This necessitated the immediate transfer of some to the hospital upon release, due to the harsh detention conditions and the systematic policies escalated by the prison administration after October 7, including prominent crimes of torture, starvation policy, and systematic medical crimes that have been the most prominent policies pursued by the occupation over many decades, causing the martyrdom of prisoners, some of whom ascended after October 7.
The Prisoner Club followed up with several testimonies from those recently released, who are in difficult health conditions. Most of them suffer from pains in various parts of their bodies and health problems that require ongoing treatment. Some had fractures at the beginning of their detention due to severe beatings and still suffer clear effects months after their arrest, in addition to a severe and evident decrease in their weights and changes in their appearances.
The Prisoner Club pointed out that the continuation of the current retaliatory measures at their current pace for a longer time will lead to a worsening of the health conditions of sick prisoners, and cause diseases even to healthy prisoners and detainees. Many prisoners who had no previous health issues recently started suffering from clear health problems, which has made it difficult for specialized institutions to count the number of sick individuals as cases escalate and daily arrest campaigns continue to target sick, injured, and elderly individuals, in addition to impeding the work of legal teams and the possibility of following up on their medical files.
The starvation policy, alongside medical crimes, were highlighted as the most prominent policies causing clear problems for the prisoners, particularly in the recent period. Here, it is noted that the martyr Mohammad Ahmad Sabbar, who ascended in February, was among the most notable cases where the type of food provided was a clear cause of his death, along with the accompanying medical crime, as confirmed by a subsequent autopsy report. He had a congenital bowel problem before his administrative detention and needed ongoing health care and food suitable for his condition, which the prison administration did not adhere to, deliberately committing a clear medical crime that led to his death.

🟢 Hamas spokesman Abd al-Latif Al-Qanou':

The demands of the resistance are not insurmountable conditions but legitimate demands understood by mediators and supported by our people and agreed upon nationally and factionally.
Without fulfilling the just demands of our people for a permanent ceasefire, withdrawal of forces, and the return of displaced persons, no agreement with the occupation will succeed.
Guaranteeing a permanent ceasefire is a fundamental pillar for moving towards the details of the negotiation and the success of the agreement with the occupation.
The occupation has not succeeded in passing its displacement project, nor in its policy of starvation or control over Gaza through the so-called "village leagues" or families and the use of the weapon of chaos and lawlessness.
What the occupation has failed to achieve over seven months of destruction, devastation, and genocide cannot be achieved in the lost time of the war.

Bassem Khandaqji, a Palestinian prisoner who has been held for 20 years, has won the 2024 international Booker Prize for Arabic Fiction for his book "A Mask the Color of the Sky."
The novel was selected from among 133 novels. This recognition is a victory for the Palestinian voice and the prisoners, who continue to write and exchange information from the revolutionary schools inside zionist prisons amidst escalated torture and repression.
Heroic prisoners such as Mahmoud Al-Aridah, Thaer Hammad, Hassan Salameh, and Abdullah Barghouti have all published books from within the prison walls: novels, reflections, historical accounts, and allegories for the struggle. Freed prisoner and leader Yahya Sinwar envisioned the future of liberation in his book "The Thorn and Carnation," while martyred leader Walid Daqqah wrote accounts of the Battle of Jenin or the psychological war on prisoners. A popular book among prisoners is Struggle From the Darkness, which sheds light on zionist psychological tactics during arrest, interrogation, and imprisonment and how to stand steadfast against them.
The literary productions of the prisoners have been among the most prominent tools of struggle armed by the prisoners, despite all efforts by the occupation to erase the Palestinian narrative and voice.
Khandaqji (40 years old), from Nablus, was arrested in November 2004. In his last 20 years in prison, he has published two poetry collections, 250 articles, and several novels, a number of which have been translated to French.
He was subjected to a harsh interrogation, followed by a sentence of three life terms when he was 20 years old while he was a journalism and media student at Al-Najah University.
When his novel was nominated for the Booker Prize, Bassem was subjected to a failed smear campaign by zionist media. Yet, Bassem left his mark, contributing to the mountain of Palestinian literature despite his imprisonment and overcoming the challenges of publication from prison.

🚨 Head of Government Media Office, Salameh Maarouf:
—
We warn against the recurrence of incidents where explosives left by the occupation army in citizens' homes explode, especially those disguised as canned goods. Many citizens were injured by such booby-trapped cans, the latest being in the Al-Zana area of Khan Younis, where 14-year-old Mohammed Yasser Samour was seriously injured. He was searching for his personal belongings in his bombed house, found food cans left by the occupation, and opened them, causing an explosion that led to the amputation of some of his limbs and injured others with him.
We condemn the occupation's crime of deliberately booby-trapping the remnants it leaves behind, as if it were not enough to kill our people with direct bombing, thereby using the deception of booby-trapped cans to increase the number of martyrs and wounded, especially among children who cannot distinguish these remnants.
According to UN estimates, which are confirmed by reports from the competent government agencies: about 10% of the shells and bombs dropped by the occupation army, estimated at more than 75,000 tons of explosives, did not explode. This means about 7,500 tons of shells and bombs in the streets, on citizens' lands, in their homes, among the debris, and under the rubble in various areas of the Gaza Strip. This represents a severe danger that will not end even with the cessation of aggression, unless they are removed and the risk of their explosion is neutralized.
Therefore, we urge our citizens not to tamper with such remnants and to pay close attention to what the occupation army leaves behind, including canned food, and to communicate with civil defense teams and specialized explosive engineering authorities to deal with these remnants.
We demand that the international community introduce specialized engineering teams and explosives experts and provide the local competent authorities with the necessary technical capabilities to deal with these remnants and remove their danger from the citizens.
