📍Yale University

Days after dozens of arrests were made, Yale students have re-launched their encampment at cross campus!
📍New Orleans

From Escalate Network: “Anti-genocide protesters have taken over Jackson Square in New Orleans. Tents have been put up. This is the first non-university Gaza solidarity encampment, to our knowledge.”
🚨 Below is a translation of an article published today in Al-Carmel, written by Qassem S. Qassem, titled "Decisive Hour Negotiations: 'israel' Agrees to Withdraw from Gaza" with exclusive information regarding the course of negotiations:

The American and "israeli" aggressions are broadcasting optimism about the near conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Tel Aviv. However, despite some positives in the current proposals, the fundamental condition for any agreement is a ceasefire, which "israel" has not yet agreed to, so the deal does not seem imminent.

What's new?
A few days ago, American National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan announced a "new effort from Qatar, Egypt, and 'israel,'" referring to "the deal" currently being pushed by the American administration. According to exclusive information obtained by "Al Carmel," Washington is promoting a two-phase deal: the first phase announces a 45-day humanitarian truce, during which the "israeli" enemy begins to withdraw from Gaza. The second phase involves resolving the file of prisoners detained in Gaza and completing the "israeli" withdrawal from Gaza entirely.

From its side, Hamas agreed that the deal would be in two phases and that the "israeli" withdrawal from Gaza would also be phased. Moreover, the movement agreed to the deportation of Palestinian prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment out of Palestine.

Despite the enemy's concession and its acceptance of withdrawal from Gaza, this does not guarantee an end to the war. This was rejected by Hamas; there are no guarantees in what is currently proposed about ending the war and reconstruction, and the movement wants these demands to be written and signed.

The United States is striving to stop the operations of the support fronts in this deal, according to "Al Carmel." Prime Minister of the enemy, Benjamin Netanyahu, demanded that the operations of the support fronts cease entirely and that this be accompanied by field measures to prevent a resurgence of fighting, specifically on the northern front.

According to the American vision, the crowning achievement of the deal will be the normalization of relations between "Tel Aviv" and Riyadh. According to "Al Carmel," the American administration wants to announce the agreement from the Saudi capital Riyadh, which would accelerate the normalization process between the "israeli" enemy and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

48 decisive hours?
In recent hours, Arab diplomatic sources have promoted that an agreement between the "israeli" enemy and Hamas is imminent, and it could be reached within the next 48 hours, although all indicators from "Tel Aviv" suggest the contrary. All this propaganda promoted by some Arab countries aims to hold Hamas responsible if the enemy decides to start an operation in Rafah. "Israeli" Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz said that "the Rafah operation could be postponed if the exchange deal is approved," meaning that after completing the deal and the enemy retrieving its prisoners, it will continue the war against Hamas. The resistance understands this well and knows that Netanyahu is evasive in accepting the first phase of the deal and will not agree to the second phase, and that the "israeli" army's withdrawal from Gaza is not a positive indicator as nothing prevents it from returning to the Strip.

Conclusion:
Five months ago, Hamas announced its demands: ending the war, returning the displaced, complete withdrawal of the enemy's army from Gaza, and reconstruction. The resistance's demands remain the same. Who has retreated is the "israeli" enemy by accepting to withdraw its army from Gaza and returning the displaced to the north of the Strip, but the basis of any agreement is ending the war. So far, the enemy refuses that and is threatening to attack Rafah, so the war will continue, and there will be no deal that gives the enemy its prisoners and takes from the resistance its strongest cards.

Resistance begins with you. Shatter the walls surrounding your mind.
"Liberate your mind before the land," in the words of the revolutionary intellectual martyr Basil Al-Araj.

Basil calls on us to challenge to perceived invincibility of oppressive forces: their power comes not from their weapons, but from our own minds.

"Start with yourself." Take direct action to challenge oppression, as Basil did. Recognize your own capacity to create change. It is a battle to reclaim minds, dignity, and land.

Khaled Odetalah, in mourning Basil, said: "Basil did not call on us to be resistance fighters. Nor did he call on us to be revolutionaries. Basil told us to be true; that is all. If you are true, you will be revolutionaries and resistance fighters."

"Palestinians have seen this struggle and responded in support, and called for a continued escalation against the US war machine to end the genocide. Let us heed this call!"

"We are here to liberate this space and to listen to Palestinians' call to continue this struggle."

CUNY Gaza Solidarity Encampment going strong at CCNY 140th and Convent Ave. From the river to the sea, Palestine is almost free!
Attached is a translation of an exclusive interview with Al-Hadaf, speaking to the liberated prisoner and political leader Omar Assaf, who was released from administrative detention a few days ago after six months of detention without charge or trial.

"The prisoners of the Gaza Strip suffer the tragedy of starvation and torture." (1/2)

After being detained for six months in the occupation's prisons, prisoner Omar Assaf was released on Monday, April 22, 2024. He lost weight, and his features changed. In front of a photo of prisoner Assaf which reveals one thing and conceals another, the Al-Hadaf Portal interviewed Omar Assaf to learn more about the reality of prisons after October 7.

Prisoners from Gaza Strip suffer the tragedy of starvation and torture.
Al-Hadaf interview with liberated prisoner Omar Assaf (2/2):

Al-Hadaf News Portal interviewed prisoner Omar Assaf, who confirmed at the beginning of his speech that the Palestinian people cannot escape confrontation, and therefore all prisoners and fighters have chosen this path with conviction. These prisoners knew that the road to freedom is not strewn with roses but with suffering, oppression, and injustice. These prisoners defend freedom and independence and pay the price of struggle willingly despite all the difficult and suffocating circumstances. But the choice remains singular: to continue on this path paved by thousands of fighters and resisters.

Assaf added during his talk with Al-Hadaf Portal, saying, "I was arrested 46 years ago, 40 years ago, 36 years ago, and 30 years ago, and also in the years in between I was arrested, but with all the meaning my words carry, this [recent] experience fundamentally differs from previous ones. After being freed from prison, many friends who had previously shared experiences of arrest came together, and we agreed that the face of this phase of arrests is very different, and the conditions of the prisoners were not like this. Thus I am speaking of new facts imposed by the occupation army; here I am not talking about individual matters, nor about fabricated heroism, but about ten thousand prisoners suffering the same conditions. Most importantly I am talking about prisoners from Gaza, as the torture and abuse inflicted on them is more severe; they truly suffer the tragedy of starvation and torture."

The conditions inside the prison are harsh and painful.
Assaf explained during his talk with the Al-Hadaf Portal, stating: "The journey of suffering begins from the moment of arrest, where the occupation before October 7th did not practice this brutal abuse in this manner. Yes, there were cases where they were assaulted, and some were shot before October 7th, but after Al-Aqsa Flood, all prisoners were subjected to various forms of torture, abuse, and bone-breaking."

Assaf emphasized: "The prisoners are not treated as prisoners of war, but as hostages, being stripped of all rights guaranteed by international laws and norms. Once a prisoner arrives at the prison, he is subjected to daily abuse, and I emphasize daily, indeed every moment and every second, different prison units enter the cells like the 'Metzada unit,' and these units start brutally assaulting the prisoners, although the situation inside the prisons does not provoke this kind of tension. Therefore, every prisoner realizes that an assault can happen at any moment, thus the conditions inside the prisons are harsh and painful."

The food inside the prisons is little in quantity and unhealthy in quality.

Assaf confirmed to Al-Hadaf Portal: "The health situation of many prisoners is difficult and very dangerous, where when arrested, the prisoner is deprived of any kind of treatment, and this issue happened to me, as I lost my hair due to the lack of treatment in the prison. Of course, I am one of the prisoners who suffered least in terms of health inside the prison."

Assaf continued: "The food provided by the prison administration in terms of quantity is very little and not enough to maintain the body's structure. This food is only enough to prevent the prisoner from dying, but in terms of quality, it is unhealthy and also not fit for consumption, and you must imagine, there is no presence of cheese or fruits, it is a real tragedy, as we lost thousands of tons of human meat from the bodies of prisoners during this phase."

The official Palestinian institution must bear its responsibilities.

At the end of his talk with Al-Hadaf Portal, freed prisoner Omar Assaf said: "There is no choice for the Palestinian people but to stand firm, be patient, and continue on the path of strugglers. This is my first message. As for the second message, the international community, human rights institutions, and the official Palestinian institution must bear their responsibilities towards what is happening to the people of Palestine."
