Intense police repression at Emory. As soon as the press conference ended—about three hours into the encampment—and before the press had even left GSP and APD ambushed students, most of whom were just beginning to get into march formation because they knew police were staging. This came after the police had approached the encampment three times with about five officers—each time students quickly formed lines and shouted them off the lawn, except the third time when students swarmed them.

A student was tased, many were tackled and arrested, word is that at least one tenured faculty member was detained and possibly arrested. Many attempts at dearrest. As they were firing pepper balls at people’s faces and bodies, students courageously locked arms and moved in groups of 10-25 students even while choking and gagging on pepper spray, chanting “Don’t Panic, Stay Tight! We’re gonna be alright.”
