On this day in 1995, two martyrs—Anwar Sukar and Salah Shaker—disguised themselves as IOF soldiers, killing 24 soldiers and injuring 69 with 15kg of TNT. The soldiers were all gathered at the Beit Lid bus stop with little organization, returning to their bases after a weekend holiday.
Due to a recently-forged alliance between Hamas and PIJ, the explosives used were that of the heroic martyr, the Engineer Yahya Ayyash. This operation was the first of its kind in the area (between the settlement of “Tel Aviv” and occupied Haifa in Netanya, near Tulkarem), and the first double martyrdom operation, indicating the far reach of the Palestinian resistance.
