The anniversary of Land Day comes amidst the ongoing aggression of the occupation, which has so far left more than 116,000 victims from our people as martyrs, missing, and wounded, in addition to the displacement of about two million citizens, and the total destruction of the infrastructure of life in the Gaza Strip. Not even hospitals, educational institutions, or places of worship, including mosques and churches, have been spared.
In this tragic humanitarian reality, our people suffer from the deprivation of healthcare and the absence of basic life necessities such as water and electricity, compounded by hunger, especially in northern Gaza, threatening nearly 700,000 people with death from starvation after signs of malnutrition appeared and deaths began to occur among the vulnerable groups of patients and children.
Land Day comes as our people, despite their suffering, cling to their land and hold on to their right to exist on it and live in freedom and dignity, away from the occupation and its crimes. By doing so, they present an argument to our Arab and Islamic nation, in particular, and to the free people of the world in general, and to everyone who follows and sees the details of this holocaust practiced by the occupier against our people, calling on them to lend a helping hand, lift the injustice and aggression they are subjected to, and end their chronic suffering represented by the occupation.

Palestinians in the village of Deir Hanna in northern occupied Palestine held a demonstration on the occasion of Land Day.
They chanted: "Gaza of Hashem does not bow to the tank and cannon!"
"O Gaza, steadfast, steadfast! From your land the lions emerged!"
The head of the Supreme Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens in Occupied Palestinian Lands, Mohammad Baraka stated at the march: "Our national, religious, humanitarian, and moral duty is to stop the genocide in Gaza, because the blood shed in Gaza is our blood. The flesh burnt in Gaza is our flesh. The abused women are our sisters, mothers, and daughters. The children wandering aimlessly between rubble and destruction are our sons, grandchildren, and children. Even if we face death, we cannot deny our origin and our belonging to our Arab and Palestinian people, who are standing tall and heroic."
"We know the extent of suffering and disaster, yet we reaffirm that the rules of history and life that strength cannot triumph over life and that armies can be defeated, but the masses—no matter how much they suffer—cannot be defeated or exterminated, and they will certainly be victorious and our Palestinian people are certainly victorious over this disaster."
Deir Hana was the epicenter of the 1976 events that we commemorate on Land Day, alongside villages such as Sakhnin and Arraba. Palestinians in the occupied interior staged a strike to protest the confiscation of 21,000 dunums of land. These protests were violently attacked by zionists, resulting in the martyrdom of 6 and hundreds wounded, with Land Day becoming a symbol of Palestinian identity, unity, and resistance.

Yet another generation has chosen the path of resistance as evidenced by Al-Aqsa Flood, in which a rising generation has joined the ranks of its predecessors of fighters and martyrs. Land Day 2024 is marked by genocide, starvation, and displacement imposed by the zionists against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. It is equally marked by the fierce resistance waged over six consecutive months in spite of that. Palestinians have proven that there are no circumstances under which they will allow their land to be taken from under them.
On March 30 of 1976, Palestinians in the West Bank and occupied interior chose resistance. They held a general strike to protest against the zionists’ confiscation of 21,000 dunums of land in northern Palestine. While the strike was a success, colonial troops responded brutally. Six Palestinian martyrs watered the soil with their blood in the ensuing confrontations: Raja Abu Rayya, Khidr Khalayleh, Khadija Shawahna, Khayr Yassin, Muhsin Taha, and Ra'fat Zuheiri.
Every year, we honor the choice made collectively by the Palestinian people to sacrifice their lives so that the struggle may continue.
