The term Fida'i is derived from Arabic, with its root word "fida" meaning "redemption" or "sacrifice." Prisoner Zakaria Zubeidi was born on January 19, 1975, in Jenin refugee camp. His mother and his brother Taha were martyred during the Al-Aqsa Intifada, and he was subject to several assassination attempts. He is married and has a son and a daughter.
He was arrested in February 2019 along with attorney Tareq Barghouth from Ramallah on charges of resisting the occupation and has been detained ever since.
The occupation court sentenced him to five years in prison for his involvement in the "Freedom Tunnel" operation, along with his comrades who managed to free themselves, and they have all been in solitary confinement since the "Freedom Tunnel" operation.
In May 2022, his brother Dawood Zubeidi was martyred after being shot by the occupation, and after being transferred to the "israeli" "Rambam" hospital for treatment, his arrest was announced and he was martyred there.
The occupation continues to hold his body to this day, while his cousins (Naeem and Mohammed) were martyred in November of the last year, and his brother Jibril has been under administrative detention since February 2023, a former prisoner who spent years in the occupation's prisons.

The invasion of the "israeli" occupation army into the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, using tanks, drones, and heavily armed soldiers, shooting at medical staff and displaced persons inside, killing many citizens, and turning it into a graveyard and a military barracks constitutes a clear and complete war crime, a crime against international law, and a crime against all international treaties.
