Freed prisoner Wafaa Samir Al-Bass has ascended to martyrdom after her home was targeted in an IOF airstrike in the #Gaza Strip.
Wafaa, one of the fighters fighters of Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades during the Al-Aqsa Intifada, attempted a martyrdom operation at the "Erez" crossing, northern Gaza, on June 20th 2005 where her explosive belt partially exploded due to a defect in the gasket. She suffered third degree burns and was arrested by the occupation.
After the occupation court sentenced her to 12 years of prisons, Wafaa stated: "I will not apologize for harming 'israel' and threatening its security."
When asked about the operation, Wafaa said: "The whole world saw the scene of Muhammad Al-Durrah's martyrdom, but for me, the matter was different; I decided to avenge him."
She spent 7 years in the occupation prisons, enduring medical negligence, torture, threats, and was subjected to solitary confinement for two consecutive years in Ramle prison. She underwent a hunger strike in protest, along with other females prisoners in support, forcing the occupation prison to terminate it. She was even offered medical treatment in exchange for spying for the zionists, but she steadfastly refused to comply.
After her seven years in occupation prisons, she was liberated in the Loyalty to the Free prisoner exchange deal in 2010 along with 1,027 prisoners. Following her liberation, Wafaa got married and had two children.
