On the afternoon of December 16, 2023, an “israeli” army sniper assassinated two Christian women inside the Holy Family parish in Gaza, where the majority of Christian families have sought refuge since the beginning of the war. Nahida and her daughter Samar were shot dead while they were going to the monastery. One of them fell while trying to save the other. Seven other people were shot while trying to help others inside the walls of the monastery. There was no warning or notice prior to this. They were shot in cold blood inside the monastery building where there is no resistance.

Earlier in the morning of the same day, a shell fired from an “israeli” tank targeted the convent of the Sisters of Mother Teresa, Missionaries of Charity, which houses more than 54 people with disabilities, and is within the walls of the church known since the beginning of the war to be a place of worship. The fuel tank and electric generator, which is the only source of energy, were also destroyed. The convent was damaged as a result of the explosion and massive fire. Two other missiles fired by an “israeli” tank targeted the same convent, rendering it uninhabitable. People with disabilities were forced to leave the home, which prevented them from accessing the respirators that some of them need to survive.

Moreover, as a result of the heavy bombing of the area, last night three people were injured inside the walls of the monastery. Solar panels and water tanks, which are indispensable for living, were also destroyed.
