The Refugee Affairs Department of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine called on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to open more relief and food distribution centers to cover all areas of the Rafah governorate amidst the large overcrowding of displaced persons and the very catastrophic and unprecedented conditions facing the governorate.
The Department stressed that since the beginning of the aggression, UNRWA's management has contributed to exacerbating the suffering of our people when it abandoned its responsibilities, leading to subsequent confusion in its operations. This necessitates urgent and swift actions to ensure the delivery of aid to all our people and displaced persons, not limited to flour and food, but including medicine, baby milk, and all forms of support for the resilience of the displaced and ensuring its access to everyone, not only in the Rafah governorate but also in the provinces of the strip, especially the Northern, Gaza, and Central provinces, which have been under siege and a starvation war for several days.
The Department considered that the step of the UN Secretary-General's warning of invoking Article 99 of the UN Charter, despite its importance, is not effective and will clash with an American veto in the Security Council. Therefore, the United Nations is required to adopt clear and pressing resolutions against the occupation to stop the aggression and enforce the urgent entry of aid into the strip through a clear and binding UN resolution.
