The occupation transferred Nael Barghouti (66 years old) from "Ofer" Prison to "Gilboa" Prison, where he was subjected to a brutal beating. Barghouti, one of the long-term prisoners, has served approximately 44 years in total, 34 of which were served continuously.

The Prisoner Affairs' Commission and the Palestinian Prisoner's Club stated that the administration of the occupation prisons continues to escalate collective transfer operations against prisoners, including leaders of the prisoner movement and long-term prisoners, accompanied by abusive practices.

After October 7th, the zionist prison administration escalated the practice of collective transfers of prisoners, whether to different sections within the same prison, to solitary confinement cells, or to other prisons. This has affected hundreds of prisoners, including those with illnesses. Extensive assaults were carried out during these transfers.

The Commission and the Prisoners' Club highlighted the escalation in the crimes against the prisoners since October 7th. These policies include a wide range of punitive measures affecting all aspects of life, including extensive assaults that have resulted in injuries among the prisoners, as an extension of the occupation's decades-long policy of ongoing revenge against the prisoners. These crimes did not start after October 7th, and the decades that prisoner Barghouti and thousands of other prisoners have spent will remain a testament to the occupation's longstanding approach.

- In 2018, the occupation forces executed his nephew Saleh Barghouti and arrested his brother Asim, along with a large number of family members, demolishing two family homes as part of collective punishment. A few months ago, his only sister Hanan Barghouti was arrested and subjected to administrative detention.

- In 2021, Barghouti faced a difficult phase with the loss of his brother and comrade Omar Barghouti (Abu Asef), as the occupation deprived him of bidding farewell to another loved one, just as he had previously lost his parents and was also denied the chance to bid them farewell.

- It is worth mentioning that for over six years, his lawyer has been pursuing a legal course through several appeals and petitions against the decision to reinstate his previous sentence, but no decision has been issued to date. Notably, a court hearing is scheduled for him in the "Ofer" military court this month, which was set ten months ago.
