The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs released a report today, Sunday, detailing the situation in what is known as the Ramla hospital, amidst the war waged by the israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip since 07/10/2023. Sick prisoners have not been exempt from the mistreatment and punishments of the occupation’s prison administration. Instead, deliberate harsh measures have been imposed with the aim of intensifying the psychological and physical suffering of the sick prisoners, despite their dire need for special medical care as most of them suffer from chronic diseases.
In this context, we present to you a list of the measures imposed on the prisoners of Ramla hospital:
1. Preventing prisoners from making phone calls with their families.
2. Preventing prisoners from family visits.
3. Restricting lawyers from visiting, as the prison service has prohibited lawyers from visiting prisoners and checking on their conditions since the outbreak of the war until today.
4. Withdrawing all electrical devices from the section, including the television, the cooking plate, the water heating kettle, radio devices, and all electrical and electronic devices without exception.
5. Preventing prisoners from purchasing from the canteen.
6. Since the beginning of the war until today, the prison service has withdrawn the supply items in possession of the prisoners, and the prisoners have nothing left in terms of food or drink.
7. The sick prisoners today only rely on the food provided by the prison service, which consists of two meals, one in the morning and one at three in the afternoon, and no food or drink is provided to them after this meal, knowing that the food provided by the prison service is very poor in quality and quantity.
8. The mineral water that prisoners depended on for drinking has run out, and they are not allowed to purchase it.
9. Every day, prisoners are subjected to provocative searches by the prison service, and anything in the room is taken away to the point that the prisoners have nothing left in their rooms except for their clothes.
10. The hospital consists of 4 rooms, and prisoners are not allowed to leave the rooms except for half an hour of yard time, after which they are returned to the rooms, and most prisoners do not go out for yard time because of their health condition.
11. The rooms of the prisoners have been turned into cells, although there are sick prisoners suffering from severe diseases in them, which constitutes an additional psychological pressure on them.
