Our people are engaged in the heroic epic of Al-Aqsa Flood, initiated by a handful of brave resistance fighters, who within hours, through a surprise operation, managed to inflict a humiliating defeat on the enemy. This operation destroyed the enemy's security and defense strategies and dealt them a humiliating military and security defeat.

The enemy is committed a heinous massacre in the Al-Maamadani hospital in Gaza City, killing hundreds of martyrs, including children, women, and elders. This is an attempt by this enemy to subdue our people, force them into submission, and drive them away under the bombardment and destruction.

We tell this criminal enemy: No matter how many bloody massacres you commit, our people will not leave but will remain steadfast and firm on their land, regardless of the sacrifices made.

These crimes cannot overshadow the enemy's defeat, and the disgrace that befell its soldiers and security system.

In the face of this zionist madness and crime, it is imperative to urgently intervene to save our people who are facing a war of extermination and ethnic cleansing. In response to this heinous massacre, we affirm the following:

We call upon the masses of our people in the West Bank, Al-Quds, and the 1948 territories to rise up in an intifada against the occupation and settler hordes.

We call on Arab leaders to take a united stand to boycott the US administration, expel its military bases, and close its embassies in the region.

Ambassadors of the enemy state should be expelled, and Arab ambassadors should be withdrawn from the zionist entity.

We urge the Arab masses to mobilize en masse to the squares and fields and besiege the US and zionist embassies in their countries.

We call on the free forces and those in solidarity with the Palestinian people around the world to escalate their struggle and resistance against the zionist enemy, the US administration, and the old and new colonial powers in Europe that are partners in this aggression against our people.

So says the song that remembers this day in 2001, when assassins of the Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades liquidated zionist "tourism" minister Rehavam Ze'evi.

The assassination came as a response to the assassination of Abu Ali Mustafa himself, who the Brigades of the PFLP would thereafter be named in honor of (video). The response was swift and symbolic—exactly forty days after Abu Ali Mustafa’s martyrdom. "A head for a head," in PFLP Secretary-General Sa'adat's words.

The operation was executed by the heroes Hamdan Quraan, Majdi Al-Rimawi, and Basil Al-Asmar, relying on advanced intelligence collected by the PFLP. The PFLP gathered that Ze'evi was currently staying at the Regency hotel in Al-Quds; his daily schedule was also ascertained by plants within the hotel.

Despite his constant vile incitement against Palestinians—including endorsing a plan to deport all Palestinians from their land—Ze’evi was arrogant. Time and again, he refused additional armed security or more secure living quarters, and insisted on being able to go about his day unaccompanied.

The operation itself was swift: Hamdi Quraan accosted Ze’evi outside his room and fired three bullets from a silenced pistol into the colonial minister’s head. By the time his body was found, Quran and Al-Rimawi were gone. The two were arrested by the Palestinian Authority with American and British oversight, then handed off to colonial authorities.

October 17, 2001 teaches us valuable lessons that present themselves even today in the midst of Al-Aqsa Flood: Superior intelligence-gathering combined with the enemy’s arrogance can make the impossible achievable. No target is truly out of reach of a determined resistance. Finally, the greatest obstacle to final victory is not the enemy who confronts you, but the traitor behind you.

Learning from the lessons of previous operations and honoring the blood of the martyrs, we march forth towards liberation, never forgetting those who paved the path.
