🚨 Syrian air defenses are confronting IOF bombing of Damascus at this moment. A Syrian air defense missile exploded above the occupied Golan.
Syrian military sources:

At approximately 2:20 in the morning today, the "israeli" enemy carried out an air attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus. Our air defenses intercepted the aggression's missiles and shot down some of them, which led to the martyrdom of four soldiers, the wounding of four others, and some material losses.

Statement issued by the family and the campaign for the release of the prisoner Walid Daqqah, regarding the "Central Court in Lydd’s refusal to grant early release to the prisoner Walid Daqqah" on Monday, August 7 2023, at 1:55 PM:

The Central Court in Lydd issued a decision today, Monday August 7 2023, to reject the early release of the prisoner Walid Daqqah, despite the grave danger to his life due to the deterioration of his health over the past five months.

He is still receiving inadequate treatment for his critical condition at the "Ramla Prison Clinic (Murasch)."

It should be noted that the prisoner Walid Daqqah has completed the unjust actual life sentence of 37 years since March 24, 2023. However, he remains arbitrarily detained after an additional two years were added to his sentence in 2018 on the pretext of attempting to help prisoners contact their families.

We, the family and the campaign for the release of the prisoner Walid Daqqah, consider any decision or ruling that does not lead to his immediate release as a declaration of his execution by prolonging his release despite the extremely high level of danger to his health, which has been acknowledged even by the “israeli” “Prison Service” report. Despite this report and the removal of the "Sagiv" classification from the prisoner Walid Daqqah, and the completion of his actual sentence five months ago, the court has refused to release him immediately.

We take this opportunity to call on all political and popular levels to support our campaign at all levels, national, Arab, and global, until the liberation of the prisoner Walid Daqqah. We will continue to work through the legal path by submitting a petition to the “israeli” Supreme Court.

End of statement.

His daughter, Kanz, called out to her father to see her new bracelet as he was being escorted to court this morning.

Ramzi had been held without charge or trial since April 2, 2023 without being allowed to see his family. His mother passed away a few weeks after his detention.

The Battle Behind Bars: The Political Agenda Behind Prisoner Treatment

The so-called Minister of "National Security" Itamar Ben-Gvir issued on 30/7/23 an amendment to the law on the administrative release of Palestinian prisoners. This amendment eliminates the previous policy that allowed some Palestinians to be released from prison before their scheduled release date. It is worth noting that hundreds of prisoners used to be released annually due to minor offenses, as a result of overcrowding and lack of space in the prison. However, that has now been canceled.

"Israel" expert Shadi Al-Sharafa said in an interview with Al-Mayadeen that the decision to cancel the early release law by Ben-Gvir is an "extremist and populist decision aimed at gathering votes in the elections." He pointed out that Ben-Gvir makes decisions that resonate with the extremist "israeli" public, and the prisoners become hostages to "israeli" political bidding.

Al-Sharafa added that the total number of decisions related to prisoners in the past six months has reached four, as Ben-Gvir periodically makes decisions targeting the prisoners, executing them gradually, fearing the reaction of Palestinian prisoners inside the prisons. Among those laws are "canceling bakeries in prisons located in occupied southern Palestine, canceling dental treatment, and limiting the duration of water usage inside prisons."

He also highlighted that the prisoners have been facing a fierce attack from successive "israeli" governments for the past 20 years, and the governments that identified themselves as part of the "center" or "left-wing" have launched severe attacks on the prisoners.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Club said that the fascist minister's decision, Ben-Gvir, to cancel the early release of prisoners, comes within the context of the ongoing aggression against the prisoners, which has escalated with the fascist government taking power. The Club also affirmed that since its arrival, the government has worked to impose laws and legal amendments that affect the issue of prisoners, their fate, and their rights.

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission called on the Security Council and all human rights and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their responsibilities and take immediate action to put an end to the "israeli" zionist extremism led by the criminal known as Minister of "National Security," Itamar Ben-Gvir.

The Commission stated, "It is unacceptable for our prisoners and detainees to become hostages to the whims of an extremist gang who hold ministerial positions in the right-wing "israeli" government. It is unacceptable for punitive measures and revenge policies to be implemented through a series of laws that contradict the principles of international human rights law and blatantly violate all international agreements and treaties."

The Commission added, "The decision by the so-called Minister of 'National Security' in the occupation government, Itamar Ben-Gvir, to cancel the law that allows the release of prisoners or detainees before the end of their sentence is an additional step to further deteriorate the bleak lives of approximately 5,000 Palestinians inside prisons and detention centers. It comes in the context of tightening the noose around them and making their lives more complex and tense."

The Commission explained that Ben-Gvir's step of amending the administrative release law and canceling the provision that allows early release of Palestinian prisoners indicates his personal agenda in dealing with our prisoners and detainees, transforming them into a mathematical equation in "israeli" electoral calculations.

The Commission pointed out the real competition within "israeli" political and military circles to take revenge on prisoners and detainees. This is done through the introduction of issues and articles in the Knesset, subjecting them to successive readings, and eventually passing them as retaliatory and racist laws whose effectiveness increases with the continued deadly international silence.
