Read this newly translated piece by Khaled Barakat, "Ghassan Kanafani and the tent of resistance heralding victory and return," originally published in Al-Akhbar.

"This year, the 51st anniversary of the martyrdom of the writer and leader Ghassan Kanafani coincides with the victory of the Jenin camp in the seemingly impossible battle led by the youth of the Brigades, those who refuse sponsorship and control. The fedayeen 'do not need their mother’s care,' Kanafani said.

The anniversary coincides with the resistance tent raised on a high southern hill in Lebanon, as a sign of victory, spreading awareness, light and challenge, and overlooking occupied Palestine. It is the resistance tent that heralds return and liberation. Here, precisely, the wisdom of the Palestinian woman of Kanafani’s novel, Umm Saad, appears once again with her revolutionary saying, 'One tent is not like another.' Yes, the tent of forced refuge, torment and humiliation cannot be the same tent that shades the fedayeen, under which those who give their lives in the struggle meet, with no goal but the liberation of their land and their return, the defense of the rights and dignity of their people. The tent of resistance accommodates everyone, stretching from the South of Lebanon to the South of Palestine and beyond.

The memory of Kanafani’s martyrdom on July 8, 1972, when he died as a martyr in the Hazmieh neighbourhood of Beirut with his niece, Lamis Najm, 17 years of age, comes to say: Something great is being born now in the tunnels and tents of the valiant resistance in the south of Lebanon, in Gaza, and in Jenin, and there is a bridge and an embrace that extends between the south of Lebanon and all of Palestine: a small tent, from which the great Arab liberation project will be born, from the ocean to the Gulf."

Young men removed IOF surveillance cameras on the border of Lebanon and occupied Palestine earlier today.

Al-Manar TV reporter Ali Shoeib reports now from the Lebanon-Palestine border, "The terrified enemy launches some small drones at a high altitude in the atmosphere of some border shrubs and their neighboring villages in the western sector. Attempts are made to confront them when noticed from time to time, then they leave to the occupied territories."

This comes following an incident at the border this afternoon that sent the zionist media into a panic. Three young men approached the border after firing fireworks, were targeted by the IOF, and withdrew. Due to the increasingly tense nature of this front for the enemy, zionist media reported everything from a drone strike to an assassination for this incident, exposing its fragility and forcing the IOF to release a statement claiming that they "thwarted" an "operation."

Violent confrontations took place between Palestinians and invading occupation forces in Tal, #Nablus. A number of IOF soldiers suffocated after tear gas was thrown back at them. The IOF has since withdrawn without making any arrests.

🚨 The Palestinian Authority Security Forces released a statement today saying, "There is no case of arrest on the basis of political affiliation in the West Bank, and all that is being circulated about its existence are baseless rumors."

This boldfaced lie was criticized by the journalist Aqil Awawdeh moments later. Aqil noted the joint statement by eight factions calling for the end of political arrests and the daily occurrences of protests of outrage at the arrests. Students and journalists are arrested on a regular basis for aligning themselves with resistance.

Hours later, Aqil was kidnapped from his workplace in Ramallah by the forces of the PA for "insulting the security services and leaders of Fatah," the same reason used to abduct a Jenin camp resident a few days ago.

At this moment, in fact, 54 political prisoners are held in the prisons of the PA. Among them are fighters and students, such as Murad Malaysha, Musab Shtayyeh (for whom a court ordered immediate release was issued months ago), Fallah Sawalmeh, Abdulmajid Hassan, Yahya Qassem, Omar Al-Kiswani, and many others. Several of them are handed over directly to the IOF, such as prisoner Ahmed Harish, who, at just 29, was imprisoned by the PA 14 times and the zionists six times.

IOF-protected settler mobs are attacking citizens and their property in Kafr Thulth in #Qalqilya. Two Palestinians have been injured.

In Kobar, #Ramallah, Palestinians have mobilized in night confusion groups to confront ongoing settler attacks. One Palestinian has been injured in the area.

🚨 Zionist sources announced today that an agreement was reached between high-level zionist leaders and the leaders of the traitorous PA that would stop the IOF's incursions into Jenin in exchange for the Palestinian Authority forces "regaining control" of the city and its camp. While this plan was opposed by the IOF, it was approved by zionist political leaders following a meeting between PA and zionist leaders after the Fury of Jenin battle. Notably, this development was announced only by zionist sources.

This comes after the IOF's humiliating defeat by the resistance of Jenin and is an extension of the previously reported plan to deploy PA forces in the camp, in line with the IOF and PA's shared anti-resistance goals. The IOF's minister of war Yoav Gallant said, "Now, it is the PA's turn in Jenin. If they don't do their duty, we will go back to work there."

Simply, the IOF is sending its lapdogs to attempt to achieve the goals that they failed at, part of the anti-liberation revolving door strategy. This explains why Abbas needed to enter Jenin with 1,000 armed guards of the PA forces, hinting at the true intentions of his visit, the so-called "sacred security coordination."
