Why the JCPOA (Iran nuclear deal) should not be revived.

1. It will ease the Islamic Republic's (IR) access to global financial resources, which are currently blocked. It will also enable the IR to continue its violent suppression of ongoing movements in Iran.
2. Terrorist activities by IRGC in the Middle Eastern regions such as Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq will be facilitated with the money and resources supplied to the IR through the deal’s revival.
3. The IR has killed over 500 people and imprisoned thousands of protestors only during the recent movement. Their crimes against humanity are not only within Iran’s borders. IR also interferes in middle east wars and supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, all of which are examples of human right violation by the regime around the world. By negotiating with IR, which indeed is not the rightful representative of the majority of the Iranian people, the western governments will violate their very fundamental values, human rights and democracy.
4. Reviving the JCPOA can only secure the western parties in the short term since the IR commitments on Uranium enrichment are only temporarily valid. The regime, which has already violated parts of its commitments, will begin to threaten and extort the western parties when the deal's validity ends.
5. Last but not least, the experience of the negotiations with the dictatorship governments has already shown that such interactions neither improve the international relationship with these governments nor benefit their people. In contrast, isolating such systems accelerates the process of structural changes and transition to democracy (through internal revolutionary movements).

PS752 Through a Personal Lens: The Fight for Justice

We will not forgive. We will not forget.

Three years have passed since the frightful downing of passenger flight PS752, and not a single day goes by that we don’t think and feel for the victims, their families, and loved ones.

On the anniversary of the third year, we commemorate the memory of the 176 innocent souls and unborn child whose lives were tragically taken too early, many of them students and scholars studying abroad.

The "Iranian Scholars for Liberty", as a collective network of students, faculty, and alumni from across the globe has created a video using narratives from people having lived and experienced those days to tell the tragic story of January 2020 and cast light on our never-ending mission for truth and justice.

در ۲۸ دی ۱۴۰۱، نامه‌ای به فدریکو ویلگاس، رئیس شورای حقوق بشر سازمان ملل و برخی از اعضای محترم آن، از جمله کمیته‌ی تازه تأسیس حقیقت‌یاب، ارسال کردیم تا صدای مردم ایران را رساتر به گوش برسانیم و خواهان اقداماتی موثرتر برای پایان دادن به این بحران باشیم.
در این نامه که از طریق وب سایت ما قابل دسترسی است، عناوین اصلی نقض حقوق بشر توسط رژیم ظالم حاکم بر ایران را خلاصه کرده‌ایم. این نامه توسط ۵۶۳ نفر از دانشگاهیان (دانشجویان، اساتید، کارکنان و فارغ التحصیلان) از ۲۵۶ دانشگاه امضا شده است و تعداد آن‌ها پیوسته در حال افزایش است.
