When we have been looking deeper into the Red Belly Rd mishap, a lots of suspicions was pointing to VR Systems "Voter Focus" which runs elections in Florida as well as Texas, North Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, New York and Washington DC.
What genius thought it was a good idea to have a single company be trusted with ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
1.) Store the voter rolls for the entire state
2.) Collect the Mail Ballot Requests and track them for the SOEs. Meaning they know when they were shipped and returned.
3.) Run the poll books at every precinct to know who is voting and how.
4.) VR runs the websites for all the supervisors of elections to "help" with list maintenance. So when you go to the SOE website for your county, that is a VR Systems's website.
4.) The SOEs upload the tabulations from the thumb-drives to VR so they can do all the counting
5.) VR provide the final counts to both the "officials" and the media.

To paraphrase that great RI company Dial-Media (creators of the late night info-mericial marketing technique and selling Ginsu Knives, etc.) "But wait! There's more!!!" If our elections are so secure, then why is RI's Senior US Stateman Jack Reed along with others politicians ensuring we have a cyber-security "range" to train cyber-security specialists? Funny, they are trusting NEIT to deliver, but when an NEIT professor and alumni (whose own MSIT Thesis advisor was Dr. Tim Henry) raises genuine questions about cybersecurity of Rhode Island's voter registration system, he is maligned.
