Romanian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation under threat of sanctions

Ethics Commission of Romanian Olympic Committee, after appeals about inappropriate treatment of gymnasts, made a decision:

• FRG, under penalty of suspension from General Assembly of Committee, in case of non-fulfillment of obligations, adoption or, as case may be, updating of the internal rules and regulations for implementation of certain policies of good governance to ensure transparency in management of Committee programs, as detailed by Ethics Commission, has been requested:

— Separation of competences/attributions into 3 segments: coordination and decision, sporting and administrative activity

— Establishing technical criteria for selection in high-performance programs based on transparent technical-sporting principles and methods and their application plan

— Adoption of communication and relationship policies with athletes and their legal representatives, in the case of minor athletes

— Adoption of procedures regarding: manipulation of sports competitions, medical assistance, anti-doping and safeguarding for athletes included in Federation's programs

— Organization of communication and information actions for Federation's members, athletes and technical collectives regarding their own procedures: handling of sports competitions, medical assistance, anti-doping and safeguarding for athletes included in Federation's programs;

— Communication policy of Federation in public space based on ethical principles;

— Publication on the website and social media pages of Federation of all adopted measures

• Maria Girba excluded from programs of federation supported by Committee, from list of persons eligible for award of distinctions by Committee, from voluntary activities carried out in halls owned or financed by Committee, until completion of ongoing criminal investigation of which Ethics Commission has taken cognizance

• Federation has been requested report detailing schedule of daily training hours of national team, number of athletes who train and coaches with whom they train, as well as proposals concrete allocation of time for initiation activity as an essential component for access to high performance programs. It will be considered to identify a consensus solution for management of indoor program with Federation's member clubs.
