Today my doctor Emin Mammadov officially declared me winner. I can’t thank him enough for professionalism, care, and empathy with which he treated me throughout this journey, which was by no means easy.
In December 2023, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and in February 2024, I had surgery. I can say that it was the hardest time of my life, when I simply felt lost. After losing my mother and suffering all the attacks from people around me, I kept asking myself, “Why this? Why me?”
It was a tough two years. Many people came, went, or stayed. I went through situations I never thought I’d experience, and through it all, I came out on top, relying only on my faith and wonderful people who stood by me.
I am grateful to my family, friends, and everyone who didn’t let me fall, who, when I felt I couldn’t go on, helped me see light ahead and told me I could make it just a little further.
In the end, I was left not only with the difficult memories of this experience, but also with many lessons learned and necklace around my neck more precious than any piece of jewelry - necklace that will always remind me of my strength.

Try to set your emotions aside as much as possible, because we’re only going to talk about how rules work.
Let's start with basics - rules of awards ceremony

But anyway, let's continue so I can show you how nobody cares about these rules (at least because these rules from 2019 and they mention FIG, which is WG now 🙃)
In Bulgaria (and elsewhere), there simply weren’t any physical flags being hoisted by special personnel. Although, technically speaking, it didn’t just appear on screen - it were actually hoisted 😂
Remember WCh and how they played Georgian anthem for Dasha instead of German one. Do you think they asked them which anthem was right one?
In Bulgaria both anthems - Ukraine’s and Bulgaria’s were played with lyrics.
So, athletes are not required to shake hands with each other, clap, kiss, or do any of other things. They should only shake hands with person presenting them with their medal. By the way, in Bulgaria, these presenters shook hands with all medalists, not just the ones who were awarded by them.
Photos. Nowhere does it say that athlete is required to take photo. It says that they must stay to make it possible, but it doesn’t say that they must take photo itself. Wording is precise, yes.
What’s more, it says "in order". This refers to photos where medalists are standing in their places on podium, not ones where they’re all together. Photo like that was taken in Bulgaria before national anthem.

So, if take photos and shake hands - it’s not necessary - is Taisiia not to blame? But here we’re talking about another rules - a code of ethics. If Alina and Vera believe that Taisiia violated their rights and discriminated against them in this way, they can file complaint. Next, they’ll have to prove that this is indeed discrimination. But do Belarus and Cyprus need scandals? Definitely not. Russia? Well, if they think that endless scandal is good idea, they should hire conflict manager or something.

These Rules are based on Art. 9 of the FIG Technical Regulations and apply for all FIG official competitions (they should also be valid for all other events)... Modifications to these Rules due to different events, venues, and/or special local circumstances may be made by the FIG President and/or the FIG General Secretary.

Sofiia. It depends on whether they can prove that it was not deliberate act. They could refer to Sergaeva's comment, which were made before case, but she literally says, "Sofiia probably got a little confused during awards ceremony". These are Sergeeva’s personal opinions, not an explanation of situation, and therefore are not admissible as evidence.
Situation for Russia is complicated by fact that video shows Sofiia looking away, and Ukrainian side will certainly argue that Sofiia saw that she needed to turn but deliberately chose not.
Fan videos from the venue show Sofiia clapping for Taisiia, which could mean that she respects Taisiia and did it by accident. But maybe not, because in this case, it’s not just about respect for Taisiia. It would have been much easier if Sofiia had just apologized before case even began.
What definitely shouldn't say is, "Yes, I saw Taisiia turn around, but I thought it was just her", or "I didn't turn around because I don't think it's necessary to turn toward neutral flag". That's like admitting guilt.

And reason I started all this in first place - bullying.
To start - both federations could receive letter from FIG regarding behavior of their fans, just as happened with Bulgaria.
Ukrainian federation and Taisiia. No, it's really hard to call their behavior bullying. Neither Taisiia nor federation called for Sofiia to be bullied, complained about her actions, or insulted her.
Taisiia mainly reposted situation itself: "Neutral athlete didn't turn toward flag". Was there neutral athlete there? Yes. Did she not turn toward flag? Technically, she was just standing there, but result is same, so yes.
Taisiia had only 2 reposts that relevant: first contains phrase "forcing to stand along neutral athlete" - which is discrimination; and "rotten core of neutral Russians" - which is also discrimination. But 2 posts are not enough to constitute organized bullying. Furthermore, last is not an insult, as many people think. There are criteria for insult. It would be insult if she had said, "Sofiia is rotten Russian", but she didn’t.
In short, the most she’ll get is warning or fine.
Russian federation. Federation itself does nothing and bears no more responsibility for fans and media than Ukrainian federation does. However, they can control individuals who are directly or indirectly associated with them and who insult Taisiia and call others to complain about her (and this can truly be called organized bullying). And if this connection is proven, and it’s also proven that they did nothing about it - these people will get suspension, Russia will get fine, and… um… I was going to say sanctions or suspension, but they’re already, so…
