The opening of the exhibition of Shushi carpets at the Museum-Institute of Architecture became possible thanks to the efforts of the director of the Shushi Carpet Museum Vardan Astsatryan.
The carpets were taken out of Shushi on the night of November 1 last year in a Ford truck. During transportation, the car came under fire several times, but, fortunately, there were no consequences.
About 80 carpets were exhibited at the exhibition; in total, 160 carpets, 45 paintings and 30 ceramics were exported from Shushi. Unfortunately, 120 carpets remained in the Azerbaijani occupation.
Among them are the 17th century carpet "Shining Cross" from the Shosh village of the Askeran region, the 18th century Tsakhkagorg from the Tokh village of the Hadrut region, the 18th century "Caravan" from Shushi.
