Artificial Intelligence in Medical Research: Strengths, Common Pitfalls, and Responsible Use in Academic Medicine
The RCP Iraq Network/Medical Research Group will organize an online session on artificial intelligence in medical research. The session will be delivered by Dr Hala AlMossawi, Associate Professor at Oklahoma State University, USA.
As AI tools increasingly support literature reviews, scientific writing, data analysis, evidence synthesis, and research productivity, they offer major opportunities while also raising scientific, methodological, and ethical challenges that are often overlooked.
🎯 Session Objectives
Explore how AI is transforming the research lifecycle, from idea generation to publication
Examine practical AI applications for researchers, faculty, and postgraduate students in medical schools
Identify risks such as hallucinated references, inaccurate summaries, methodological errors, bias, and reproducibility concerns
Discuss academic integrity, responsible authorship, transparency, and ethical AI use
Guide critically evaluating and responsibly incorporating AI tools into research activities
✨ Expected Outcomes
Participants will better understand the opportunities and risks of AI in academic medicine and learn to use it critically, ethically, and effectively while preserving scientific rigor, research integrity, and independent scholarly judgment.

اجريت الورشة في مستشفى البصره التخصصي لأمراض وجراحة القلب بتاريخ 22/8/2026 وباشراف الاساتذة :

As part of the activities of the RCP Iraq Network/Scientific Activities Group in Basra Governorate, a workshop was organized on the use of electrocardiography (ECG) in diagnosing various cardiovascular presentations.
The workshop was held at Basra Specialized Hospital for Heart Diseases and Surgery on 22 August 2026, under the supervision of Professors:
Dr Asaad Hassan, Dr Mazen Abdul Hazaa, and Dr Abdul Amir Abdul Bari, with 60 attendees.
