Between 2017 and 2022, over 30000 U.S.-based skilled workers applied for a C12 work permit (ICT). Indian nationals residing in the U.S. accounted for %83 of the workers moving from America to Canada. The number of C12 applications was slightly at its peak in 2019 and slightly decreased in 2021 and 2022.

The ATIP Plus data shows that Indian students accounted for the largest proportion of these college-level study permit applications at 46%, followed by Nigerian and Filipino students at 6.4% each. It is worth noting that the number of Indian college students applying for study permits in Canada significantly exceeds the combined total of Nigerian and Filipino students.

Canada announced a special measure for the Iranians residing in Canada temporarily, waiving extension fees and easing processing, Effective March 1st.
The minister also promised to announce a new open work permit pathway and a permanent residency for those who promote and advocate human rights.
