A phone number stealing backdoor has been identified within the Nekogram Android client. The investigation reveals that the application contains obfuscated logic designed to silently collect and upload the phone numbers of all accounts logged into the app. This malicious behavior is present in distributed versions, including the version available on the Google Play.

#TnT in this context, lemme give you a wide pov. 1st of All, Open Source is amazing, But blindly trusting Open Source is a next level stupidity Just Like Neko dev played. The Extra . java code was never in the GitHub source code, so even if you compile it yourself, you won't find it. But it was there in the released apk on GitHub page, apks on its tg Channel & On google play release.

Its that easy to play with you & imagine when open source code can be this much shady then what about the closed source ones and the ones on google play that openly states they are gonna trace the hell out of you & You still use that.

Solution: Support Proper Cleaned Mods. (100 IsPremium thuthorial Mods can be made with once a minute speed, and it take 100 minute alone on a single proper cleaned Mod).

2nd: Never Trust Any 3rd Party TG Client. All Clients from Iranian devs (Ninjagram, Telegraph, Turbotel, etc) spy on you for the gxvt. Plus google play release is already found playing with the User's Account. So Its better to Use any of them at Your Own Risk.

Neko Based Clients are still safe because the spyware type code was not in the neko github source, so unless the Based Clients dev didn't add something themselves, they are almost safe. But We Never Know.
