At Addis Ababa University, we held a closing ceremony for our THRIVE YOUTH program. We ended the year with experience sharing with Dr. SebleAsrat, Ph.D., discussing personal and holistic growth. As individuals, we frequently concentrate on growing in some areas while neglecting other areas, believing they won't be important.

Throughout the experience sharing, it was underlined how important holistic personal development is to one's overall success and how a person of character is meant to undertake a long and yet a rewarding path.

Under the title of "Discovering  Purpose," soft-skill training was given for Compassion Project teenagers for two days, at Wenji-Shoa town. On the training given to help the teenagers to discover their purpose early in their life, about 110 students participated.

The training was organized in partnership with Rejoice Africa and EECMY Wenji-Shoa Compassion Project.

As a leader, you must have a clear understanding of yourself. The concept you have about yourself must not just be out of the social mirror. You can't rely on society. Society cannot easily be trusted to rely on it. Sometimes the status you are given by society is like seeing yourself in a "distorting mirror." But you must have a clear, true concept of yourself because it will make you mentally and emotionally independent and boost your confidence. According to Carl Rogers, he is one of the founders of humanistic psychology. He suggested that self-concept has 3 components. Your real self (your self-image), your ideal self, and your self-esteem.
Your real self is who you really are now or how you currently see yourself.
Your ideal self is your future self. The self you want to be. The self-concept you have about your future self. Your self-esteem is the good or bad feeling you have about who you are.

Take your time, often alone, and have deep introspection about how you currently see yourself. In every sphere of your life. Academically, spiritually, professionally,physically... in every area of activities you engage yourself in.

Is the concept you had about yourself really true? Or you just got it by default and accepted it like a myth. Have you made yourself vulnerable for the society to construct you.

For example, to mention some:
Lack seems to be the story of my life.
I am not a maths person.
God will not hear my prayers.
I don't look good.
I'm discusting.
I hate speaking in public because I cannot be a public speaker.
What? I cannot be a millionaire.
There is nothing special about me.
I can’t do anything, right
People won’t like me.
I am not talented enough.
I’m not smart enough to do that.
I don’t have a lot to offer.
I’m so ugly.
It’s too late for me.

Do you feel good about it? Is it true and effective? Or you want to change it. You must be assured that you have the true concept. There are a lot of lies about your potential, your uniqueness, and your contribution. Don't just live with the flow. Exploit your hidden untapped potential.

🎯 Our month-long program with the teenagers and young people of the Nigat Birhan Charity Organization is progressing well. Witnessing small but significant changes in these young lives over the past three weeks reinforces our belief in the power of connection and consistent support.

🎯 It has also taught us that serving young people who are passing through difficult life challenges requires immense patience and compassion. So far, we’ve covered important topics like healing from trauma, finding life purpose, self-discovery, and relationships and boundaries. We're confident that this journey will empower them to overcome challenges and to see glimpses of hope in their life.
