I’m still getting recommended tons of videos of Europeans coming to the USA and talking about how they were totally lied to about America, how awesome it is, and how they don’t want to leave.

I’m not pointing this out to say “see, the USA is the best country ever!” The USA is definitely not perfect, and it shares many of the same flaws now found in most every western country. I think the USA is getting a very high praise by Europeans because they’ve discovered that America is not nearly as terrible as they’ve been told. There’s probably a name for this phenomenon somewhere.

And this gets to the crux of the real issue as it relates to our movement: credibility. I think it seriously hurts our cause when people representing our views openly spread lies and deep exaggerations to depict America (or any other western country) in the worst possible light — if you’re going talk shit about a western country, bring many receipts.

People are going to be much less inclined to listen to your views about race and politics once they realize they’re being lied to about an entire country.
