Whipple's operation:

It is done for treatment of pancreas adenocarcinoma.
It contains removal of head and neck of the pancreas, whole duodenum, antrum of stomach, GB and CBD.
Then anastomoses: hepatic and pancreatic ducts and stomach to the jejunum.

3- ABC
4- give O2 for pt .
5- insert 2 Large bore IV access
6- CBC/cross-match and type
7- insert Foley catheter
8- massage of uterus
9- diagnosis of 4 “ Ts “ & spescific treatment accordingly.

Remember:

Ceftriaxone and cefotaxime are used as Prophylaxis of surgical infection.


Ceftriaxone 👉🏼1 g IV 0.5-2 hours before procedure.

Cefotaxime👉🏼 1 g IM/IV once 30-90
minutes before start of procedure.
