Remember:

-Spastic Cerebral Palsy is the most common type of cerebral palsy and occurs in 70%-80% of all cerebral palsy cases.

-More than 50% of these patients are of low birth weight.
- Intelligence is normal or borderline.

-Apraxia is common.
-Causes include perinatal hypoxia and kernicterus.
-Only 8%-10% of cases with cerebral palsy have a history of birth asphyxia.

-Not all patients with Cerebral palsy have learning disabilities "MR", it's present in about 60٪.

CAUSES OF EARLY DEATH in Down syndrome:

• Congenital heart disease
• Leukaemia
• Lower respiratory tract infections
• Atlantoaxial dislocation
• Alzheimer's disease.

-Skin of a post-term infant:
Pale, wrinkled, peeling, no lanugo hair with or without meconium staining.

-Skin of a preterm infant:
Thin, pink, shiny, with little SC fat, covered with lanugo hair.

Infants with congenital nephrotic syndrome commonly have:
-markedly elevated maternal serum α-fetoprotein concentration,
-a large placenta,
-wide cranial sutures, and
-delayed ossification
-recurrent infections
-reduced C3 and IG
-poor prognosis not respond to steroids
-age of onset less than 3 yrs
-positive family history.
