Thanks to MGuy on YouTube, I watched this interesting ten minute video from a physicist about energy and vehicle principles.

I like “differently complicated” and “tailpipe elsewhere” in particular, but there are others in this readily understandable clip.

He didn’t mention that the underlying rationale is fraudulent but that’s what’s required mostly to stay up on a platform and not frighten the public.

The interplay between glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation ensures that ATP production can continue during both prolonged and intense bouts of physical activity. Importantly, high-intensity exercise induces adaptive responses in the mitochondria, enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis, oxidative enzyme activity, and the efficiency of fatty acid utilization. These adaptations help the body become more metabolically flexible, able to shift between fuel sources based on demand (Hood et al., 2016).

From this perspective, high-intensity exercise does not merely deplete energy stores but actively enhances the body's capacity to generate ATP more efficiently, creating a long-term benefit in terms of metabolic health.
