Max Planck was remarkably musical.
He was an accomplished pianist, played the organ and cello, possessed absolute pitch, and even composed songs and a complete operetta while he was a student.
Later, his home in Berlin became a regular meeting place for chamber music.
Albert Einstein was among those who joined him.
In a letter dated 16 November 1916, Lise Meitner described an evening at Planck’s home where Schubert and Beethoven trios were performed, with Planck at the piano and Einstein playing the violin.
