❗️Ombudsman is after Ursula von der Leyen over Pfizer 1.8bn dose deal texts! (Politico)
In April the NY Times reported that the European Commission President had been exchanging personal TEXTS with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla as the bloc was running low on vaccines.
Her "personal diplomacy" allegedly played a big role in EU securing a mammoth 1.8bn dose deal with Pfizer then, according to NYT.
European Ombudsman Emily O'Reilly now wants to know the CONTENT of those messages after the Commission REFUSED to release them, saying it had NO RECORD of them:
"The decision to record a certain piece of information in the administration’s document management system should, according to EU law, not be dependent on the medium but on its content," O'Reilly wrote to the EC.
The body claim they don't always keep records of SMS text messages because they are "short-lived".
