How can I utilise my travel time to prepare for the CAT?

Assuming that you are not driving to your work, there may be several ways in which you can utilize your travel time and overcome the “I don't get time to do things” syndrome.

1) Select a favourite book and go to binge reading. Keep on varying the genre with a target of a week to ten days per book.

2) Use smartphone for apps which you can use to solve questions in various topics. Even a small amount of questions practiced each day will make your preparations seem easy

3) Use apps like Memorize, Elevate or Quiz-up to bring a competitive sense into you.

4) For DILR start with small puzzles like “Puzzles to puzzle you” by Shakuntala Devi. This will help you in building interest and then you will be easily able to solve the BIGGER questions.

5) Make it a habit to read newspaper everyday to help your preparations for the GK section in the IIFT, XAT kind of exams. This will also help you in the Interview preparation later where they may ask you for various general awareness kind of questions.

How do I improve the Quant section to excel in the CAT?

1) Look at the last 7 year papers papers which have been released for CAT (https://t.me/QuantSenseiMain/721) (https://t.me/c/1972968225/68)

2) Don't be afraid to make mistakes

3) Practice. Lots of it

4) Clear up your basic concepts

5) Practice

6) Leave the handicap of calculators. Practice loads of Mental calculations

7) Practice

8) Make your own approaches to solve questions

9) Practice

10) Don't just solve questions but also analyse the solutions to understand what went wrong and where. Also understand what went right and how you can build up on it…

11) Practice

12) Don't let Quant scare you

13) Practice

14) Observe numbers very carefully!

16) Practice

17) Last and most important: Be flexible in your thought, your approach. Rigidity is not the style for CAT

Please follow it rigorously. I know it is an arduous task.

But nothing worth having comes easy!!!

A general 15 week preparation plan for QA

Each week for a topic should include
1. Revision of concepts
2. At least 50 - 70 unsolved questions from various sources (Look in backup group)
3. Assignment sheet of the topic from any one coaching institute
4. Analysis of topic including problem areas and strong suites

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

Which is the reason why analysis of mocks is a very important activity. As you begin to attempt mocks, keep in mind to -

1. Identify what went wrong 😡 for you in the exam and what went right😇?

2. Identify the questions which went wrong and identify the reason 🥲

3. Identify the questions which went right and analyse the reason 🔖

4. Tabulate all the data 📝

5. Look at the solutions and identify if there is a better approach and include that in your methodology 👨🏻‍💻

6. Analyze the consolidated data for at least 3 mocks, identify the areas are you lacking in. 🤯

7. Pick extra questions to try in these weak areas. 📚📙

In case you still feel lost, contact your mentor who can guide you through it and help you. 👨‍🏫

Aim is to attempt the mocks with different approaches and identify which strategy suits your particular approach and perfect it. 💯🏅🎯🏆
