Russian-held city of Donetsk has been hammered with shelling for the past 3 hours.
Eyewitnesses report that Petrovsky, Kirovsky and Kuibyshevsky districts were shelled. Petrovka is especially hard hit, where a two-story apartment building is currently on fire.
The operation started just after U.S. Defense Secretary Austin visited Kiev, Ukraine.
