Former Israeli Communications Ministry deputy general Haim Geron - a key witness in the corruption trial of Benjamin Netanyahu - and his wife have died after the plane he was flying crashed in Greece.

Greek media claim a technical fault is the most likely cause for the single-engine aircraft’s disaster near the island of Samos, which didn’t claim any other victims.

Geron gave evidence in the former PM’s trial involving a multi-million dollar communications contract Netanyahu allegedly illicitly facilitated in exchange for favorable media coverage.

Bill Gates has warned “attention to pandemic preparedness is lower than expected.” The billionaire Microsoft co-founder stating vaccine inequalities between low and high-income countries is a “profound moral outrage,” in a report released Monday.

Less than 1% of vaccine doses have been administered in low-income countries, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation report said, compared to 80% in high and upper-middle-income nations.

The Foundation challenged nations to invest long-term in healthcare systems and said the tools to end the pandemic are similar to fighting other infectious diseases like malaria and polio – with “widespread testing” and “lifesaving immunisation.”
