🔥 Ripple and Stellar are Supercharging DLT Application in Correspondent Banking Infrastructures

Top crypto researcher SMQKE notes that only Ripple (XRP) and Stellar (XLM) are effectively offering DLT to correspondent banking infrastructures, positioning them to transform the more than $100 trillion cross-border payments industry.

Cross-border payments, long slowed by multiple intermediaries, high fees, and delayed settlements, are being transformed by Ripple and Stellar. According to SMQKE, their DLT-powered solutions, XRP and XLM, serve as efficient bridges, cutting costs, accelerating transfers, and enhancing transparency in international transactions.

Ripple’s global network of bank and financial institution partnerships leverages the XRP Ledger to deliver near-instant settlements and liquidity solutions, bypassing traditional correspondent banking delays. By integrating XRP into cross-border payments, Ripple reduces pre-funded accounts and boosts efficiency, transforming a market worth over $100 trillion.

🇪🇺🇨🇳 Europe losing ground to China

Speaking at the European Industry Summit in Belgium, Macron said Europe must pursue balanced and mutually beneficial trade partnerships, but stressed that trade policy must now serve as a strategic instrument to reduce reliance on China, particularly in critical raw materials and strategic inputs. Despite dozens of trade and mineral agreements, Macron warned that Europe remains “dangerously exposed,” calling for a shift from paper agreements to concrete projects.

"Over the past 20 years, China has grown by around 8% a year, the U.S. by 2%, and the EU on average only by 1%. We must close this gap," - said Germany's Merz.

↗️ SoftBank books $4.2 billion gain on OpenAI bet, boosting its Vision Fund

SoftBank said it made a $4.2 billion gain on the value of its OpenAI investment in its fiscal third quarter, offsetting losses stemming from the share price declines of Coupang and Chinese ride-hailing app Didi. SoftBank’s AI push has involved a more than $30 billion investment in ChatGPT developer OpenAI as one of its core companies. SoftBank owns approximately 11% of OpenAI.

In 2024, SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son said the world was a decade away from artificial superintelligence - or ASI - which he described as technology 10,000 times more intelligent than humans. Yoshimitsu Goto, chief finanical officer at SoftBank Group, said 60% of the company’s assets are now “ASI-oriented investments.”

🎶 Spotify says its best developers haven’t written a line of code since December, thanks to AI

Has AI coding reached a tipping point? Spotify co-CEO Gustav Söderström shared this week during its fourth-quarter earnings call that the best developers at the company “have not written a single line of code since December.” At Spotify, engineers are using an internal system called “Honk” to speed up coding and product velocity, the company told analysts on the call. This system allows for things like remote, real-time code deployment using generative AI, and specifically Claude Code.

Spotify pointed out it shipped more than 50 new features and changes to its streaming app throughout 2025. And, most recently, it has rolled out more features, like AI-powered Prompted Playlists, Page Match for audiobooks, and About This Song, which all launched within the past few weeks.

“As a concrete example, an engineer at Spotify on their morning commute from Slack on their cell phone can tell Claude to fix a bug or add a new feature to the iOS app,” Söderström said. “And once Claude finishes that work, the engineer then gets a new version of the app, pushed to them on Slack on their phone, so that he can then merge it to production, all before they even arrive at the office.”

🇷🇺🇨🇺Russia expected to supply Cuba with oil as 'humanitarian aid'

Russia is expected to supply Cuba with oil and fuel cargoes as part of a "humanitarian" effort. The communist-run island has warned international airlines that jet fuel will no longer be available.

Several foreign airlines have dropped routes in response, while governments, including Russia's, have called on their citizens to avoid travelling to the island until the issue is resolved. Rossiya Airlines and Nordwind Airlines will adjust their flight schedules to Cuba to ensure the evacuation of Russian tourists (around 5,000 according to Russia's Association of Tour Operators) currently in the island.

The U.S. is considering sending limited amounts of fuel to Cuba - gas for cooking and diesel fuel for running the water supply infrastructure. The initiative is being discussed.

🔋 Edison-inspired battery charges in seconds, endures 12,000 cycles for decades

An international research collaboration co-led by UCLA has developed a nickel-iron battery prototype that recharges in seconds and maintains its performance for over 12,000 cycles. This endurance is equivalent to more than 30 years of daily recharges.

“The technology’s fast charging, high output and robust endurance suggest a good fit for storing excess electricity generated at solar farms during the daytime, to power the grid at night. It may also be useful for backup power at data centers,” explained the researchers.

The technology uses nickel and iron clusters smaller than 5 nanometers, meaning 10,000 to 20,000 clusters could fit within the width of a human hair. By using these dimensions, the researchers increased the electrode surface area. This efficiency enables the battery to reach a full charge in seconds rather than the seven hours required by historical versions of the technology.

🇳🇪🇫🇷 The Republic of Niger announces mobilization to “Prepare for War with France”

The Republic of Niger has announced a mobilization to prepare for entering what it called a ‘war with France.’ The statement was made by General Amadou Abdramane, Chief of Staff to the country’s leader Abdourahamane Tchiani, during a rally.

"We should not beat around the bush: We are going to enter into war with France. Everything that has brought us to this state of insecurity is caused by France," he said, alleging that France "wants to bring us back at any cost to where it built its prosperity."

The Republic of Niger regularly accuses France of attempting to destabilize the country. Tchiani has also accused French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as the leaders of Benin and Côte d’Ivoire - Patrice Talon and Alassane Ouattara - of supporting Islamist terrorist groups. According to him, these countries were behind the attack on Niamey Airport at the end of January 2026.

🔬Scientists grew mini human spinal cords, then made them repair after injury

Scientists have taken a major step toward treating spinal cord injuries that cause paralysis. In lab dishes, researchers at Northwestern University grew tiny organoids of the human spinal cord. Then, they injured the samples and administered a treatment that helped the tissue repair and regenerate.

"We decided to develop two different injury models in a human spinal cord organoid and test our therapy to see if the results resembled what we previously saw in the animal model. After applying our therapy, the glial scar faded significantly to become barely detectable, and we saw neurites growing, resembling the axon regeneration we saw in animals. This is validation that our therapy has a good chance of working in humans."- said biomedical engineer Samuel Stupp.

Spinal cord injuries often lead to paralysis because damaged nerve cells in the central nervous system regenerate poorly. This is partly due to suppression mechanisms that impede the growth of new axons and the emergence of scar tissue that is difficult for nerve fibers to penetrate.

🇺🇸🪖The Pentagon wants to raw dog the latest AI models on classified systems

Pentagon officials are pushing to roll out AI systems across all classification levels, potentially opening the door to more sensitive applications like mission planning or weapons targeting. Military officials argue they should be allowed to deploy AI however they see fit, as long as it complies with U.S. law.

The push comes as OpenAI announced that it has made a customized version of ChatGPT available through the War Department’s AI platform, GenAI.mil. The platform, which launched in December, is used by roughly 3 million civilian and military personnel and already includes tailored versions of tools from xAI and Google’s Gemini.

🇺🇸 President Trump announces an END to Barack Obama’s climate alarmist “endangerment finding” regulations

President Donald Trump just delivered a knockout punch to Obama-era climate hysteria. The Trump administration finalized rules repealing the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) endangerment finding - that dubious 2009 determination claiming six greenhouse gases threaten human health under the Clean Air Act.

“You’re going to get a better car, you’re going to get a car that starts easier, a car that works better for a lot less money. American families will save over $2,400 for a new vehicle," - said Lee Zeldin, current Administrator of the U.S. EPA.

Thank you President Trump! 🙏❤️💪

🇻🇪🇺🇸Venezuela oil sales top $1 billion, funds won’t go to Qatar account anymore

Venezuela oil revenue will no longer be deposited in an account in Qatar, Energy Secretary Chris Wright told in an interview this week.

“An account was set up in Qatar, controlled by the U.S. government the whole time, to land that money in and then send the money from there down to Venezuela. Now we have an account at the U.S. Treasury. The money won’t go to Qatar anymore,” - Wright said.

Chris Wright told that revenue from Venezuelan oil sales now tops $1 billion. The U.S. has short-term agreements to sell another $5 billion of the country’s crude over the next few months. The oil has gone to U.S. refineries and Europe so far.

"Oil is starting to flow, and large amounts of money, unseen for many years, will soon be greatly helping the people of Venezuela," - Trump posted on Truth Social.
