๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณChina Starts Worldโ€™s Largest Compressed-Air Power Storage Plant

The worldโ€™s largest compressed-air power storage plant has begun operating in central Chinaโ€™s Jiangsu province, marking a major step in the countryโ€™s efforts to expand energy storage to support its green transition. The plant, with 2,400 megawatt hours of capacity, can generate 600 megawatts of power and meet the annual demand of 600,000 households, according to a statement from Harbin Electric Corp.

Such facilities represent the most costโ€‘effective, long-duration solution to storing energy. They work by pumping compressed air into underground caverns at night, for release during the day to spin turbines and produce electricity. Chinaโ€™s energy storage sector has seen explosive growth, driven by the countryโ€™s rapid deployment of renewable energy. The government has set a target of over 180 gigawatts of new capacity by 2027, fostering a boom in battery storage and alternative technologies such as compressed air. #BRICS

๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ช U.S. to issue general license soon lifting some sanctions on Venezuelan oil industry

U.S. officials have said Washington would ease sanctions imposed on Venezuela's energy industry to facilitate a $2 billion oil supply deal between Caracas and Washington and an ambitious $100 billion reconstruction plan for the country's oil industry. This means a shift from a previous plan to grant individual exemptions to sanctions for companies seeking to do business in the country.

Many partners and customers of state oil company PDVSA, including U.S. major Chevron (CVX.N), opens new tab, have applied for individual licenses in recent weeks to expand oil output and exports from the OPEC member. The volume of individual requests to the U.S. government has delayed progress on plans to expand exports and get investment moving quickly into the country.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Germany needs new partners as global order changes

Germany must seek new partners in light of a changing global order, the countryโ€™s economy minister said on Tuesday, referring to deteriorated relations with the U.S. that have resulted in import tariffs.

โ€œThe world has become more uncertain, and alliances that we have trusted and relied on are beginning to crumble. That does not mean abandoning them, but rather continuing to work together, however challenging that may be in some cases, and above all seeking new partners,โ€ Katherina Reiche said at the Handelsblatt energy summit.

In particular, Reiche mentioned South America, India, the Middle East, Canada, Australia as well as countries in Asia, including Malaysia.

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด Norway Accomplished a Near-Total EV Transition: almost 100 percent of new cars registered in November were electric

More than 97 percent of the new cars Norwegians registered in November 2025 were electric, almost reaching the countryโ€™s goal of 100 percent. As a result, the government has begun removing some of the many carrots it used to encourage its successful EV transition.

"Battery-electric vehicles have had exemptions from the 25 percent value-added tax and from the CO2- and weight-based registration tax that apply to combustion-engine vehicles. We used other tax incentives to encourage building charging stations on highways and in rural areas. Cities had the opportunity to exempt zero-emissions cars from toll roads. EV drivers also got reduced ferry fares, free parking, and access to bus lanes in many cities. The technology for the vehicles wasnโ€™t that good at the start of the incentives program, but we had the taxes and incentives to make traditional passenger cars more expensive," - said Cecilie Knibe Kroglund, state secretary in the countryโ€™s Ministry of Transport.

The Norwegian experience shows that the economic incentives work, but it also shows that EVs work even in a country with cold weather.

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ Gunmen open fire at football match in Mexico, killing at least 11.

Gunmen opened fire at a football match in central Mexico on Sunday, killing at least 11 people and wounding 12, in the latest outburst of violence in Guanajuato state. The gunmen arrived at the end of a match. Ten people died at the scene and one died later at a hospital. A woman and a child were among 12 people injured in what Cรฉsar Prieto, the mayor of the town of Salamanca, called a โ€œregrettable and cowardlyโ€ attack. He said the attack was part of a crimewave in the city and appealed to the Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, for help to control the violence.

The state prosecutorโ€™s office said it was investigating and coordinating with federal authorities to reinforce security in the area. Guanajuato has been for many years one of the most violent regions in the country, owing to turf wars between rival cartels.

Condolences to the victims. ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ China gives green light to importing first batch of Nvidia's H200 AI chips.

China has approved its first batch of Nvidiaโ€™s H200 AI chips for import, marking a shift in position as China seeks to balance its AI needs against spurring domestic development.

The H200 is Nvidiaโ€™s second most powerful AI chip. The approval covers several hundred thousand H200 chips and was granted during Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huangโ€™s visit to China this week. The first batch of approvals has been allocated primarily to three major Chinese internet companies, with other enterprises now joining a queue for subsequent approvals.

๐Ÿค India and EU announce 'mother of all trade deals'

The European Union and India have announced a landmark trade deal.

"We did it, we delivered the mother of all deals," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at a media briefing in Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the pact "historic".

It will allow free trade of goods between the bloc of 27 European states and the world's most populous country, which together make up nearly 25% of global gross domestic product and a market of two billion people. The deal will see a number of huge tariff cuts across a range of goods and services, and a joint security partnership. Also the deal with the E.U. may help labour-intensive sectors in India such as shrimp farming, textiles, gems and jewellery. #BRICS

๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ต North Korea's Kim says upcoming party congress will unveil plans to bolster nuclear deterrent.

North Korea performed a live-fire drill of an upgraded large-caliber multiple rocket launcher system in the presence of Kim on Tuesday. The test launch was meant to enhance the effectiveness of the country's โ€œstrategic deterrent.โ€ KCNA said the launcher system's mobility and strike accuracy have been improved.

Experts say North Koreaโ€™s large-sized rocket launchers blur the boundaries between artillery systems and ballistic missiles because they can create their own thrust and are guided during delivery. North Korea has said some of these systems are capable of delivering nuclear warheadsw.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday said President Donald Trump "absolutely" supports the Second Amendment rights of "law-abiding" citizens

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท Trump warns Iran 'time is running out' for nuclear deal as US military builds up in Gulf

Donald Trump has warned Iran that "time is running out" to negotiate a deal on its nuclear programme following the steady build-up of US military forces in the Gulf. The US president said a "massive Armada" was "moving quickly, with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose" towards Iran, referring to a large US naval force.

In response, Iran's mission to the UN said Tehran "stands ready for dialogue based on mutual respect and interests", but if pushed, it wrote in all capitals, it would defend itself and "respond like never before". Iran insists its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful and has repeatedly denied accusations by the US and its allies that it is seeking to develop nuclear weapons.

"Hopefully Iran will quickly 'Come to the Table' and negotiate a fair and equitable deal - NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS," Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
